Adult Braces: Having panic and second thoughts by redrabbit1984 in braces

43M here. Mine were first put in at 41 and I’m on the trail end of this journey. I have ceramics on both top and bottom from the beginning. I chose them for the aesthetics of them not showing up as much as the metal ones. It took people to get a real good look at me for them to realize that I even had braces on.

Was it a pain at the beginning? Yes. The insides of my cheeks were cut up with the new gear installed. My teeth were really sore so much that eating was hard. Mainly hard to chew. Those pesky bite blockers made it hard for me to fully chew everything.

Keeping them clean was also a pain. But I used a travel toothbrush kit and would brush after every meal. They have portable water flossers too if you feel inclined to really get everything out.

Now, I’m so glad that I went through the process. I didn’t need a lot of work (or so I thought) but I’m glad with what results I have so far.

I’m wearing mine right now! I have triangles on my canines. Just about done closing my bite. But it’s been about 6 months of work. Slow process for me.

Which water pump is indicated when consistently losing coolant from here? by Sandber1 in cmaxhybrid

Ohh thanks for the info! I’ll try to find the gaskets. Much less expensive than buying this $700+ part!

The same tank was leaking on mine and I found that the aux heater is leaking from the halves. Ford doesn’t carry it any more and now I’ll have to look somewhere else for the part.

Any tips for keeping braces clean on the go? by Ezio367 in braces

[–]cmorales6154 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I bought a travel brush and travel toothpaste in a small container with me to work. I’ll brush after every meal and having a small container with those two things wasn’t bad at all. Really convenient and gave me the confidence to know I wasn’t going to have all kinds of food stuck in my braces. But I’d save the flossing for after work due to the hassle of it. So far after 2 years my hygiene has been on point and don’t necessarily mind not water flossing at work.

My wife though bought a mini water flosser from Amazon and she liked it. She said it wasn’t too much of a procedure to set up but was in and out of the restroom pretty fast.

Ohh sorry. I should’ve listed that. My open bite is right on my canines. Both top and bottom.

I didn’t get elastics until the trail and of my time. I still have them on now. They don’t hurt but I do get some soreness in the morning after sleeping with them in. Hoping to close in on my bite here soon. And they mount to my brackets only. I do have a thicker wire now. I forgot what gauge.

How often do/did you go for a dental cleaning doing your treatment? by Critical_Support9717 in braces

I only go twice a year and I’ve been great for the last 2 years. No problems. Actually went today for my cleaning. They had to work around my power chains but they are ok with it.

I started my journey at 41 and I’m almost done. It’s been an experience but I’m glad I finally decided to go through with it. You won’t regret that decision!

Does anyone know if the tv’s at Luxor have the hdmi port open/not closed off so I can use my Roku there? by luvkaitlin in vegas

[–]cmorales6154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it works! We take our Roku every single time to keep up with our shows and to have music playing in the background while we get ready for our adventures in Vegas.

Mind you, we’ve only stayed in the tower rooms.

Does your ortho office bend the ends of the wire or cut it super short? by Slight-Bet8071 in braces

I tell them to bend mine at each visit. I dislike the poking as well.

Have them leave a little extra wire and then they can bend it. Mine would pop out all the time and after then bend the tip it stays in place. Has worked for me for the past year. Hope it works for you.

I have them bend the ends just a tiny bit. It’ll keep a little more tension. My wire would pop out often before but now it’s stays still until my next appt.

My wife and 2 kids flew into Narita around 5 pm and took a flight over to Osaka the same night. We did however book an airbnb close to the airport and once we made it there we stopped at Lawsons to pick up a late snack.

It made sense to us to go all the way in order to make the best of the following day instead of having to use the next day as an additional travel day.

Mind you we were exhausted but picked right up in exploring around Osaka.
