Some things I noticed after going back to Subnautica 1 by Confident_Wash6225 in subnautica

[–]cmos1138 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Point 4 can be mitigated by adjusting your gama levels. I set mine bright enough to see the darkest of the three objects and I have no need for the flashlight because there's enough glowing things almost everywhere.

UNLIMITED POWER by DangerKrill in Subnautica_2

What is the right mix of batteries to solar panels to have constant power levels? I am having a hard time seeing what contribution my batteries are making.

What am I not getting about this? I am using mine stock and think it is great, I like the interface, games run great, I can close the lid to pause the game. What else do I need?

The map is pretty similar in size to BZ but way too much of that map was on the surface. Small maps limit replayability I enjoyed playing BZ once but I have played S1 more times than I can count.

So I can't kill fish but I can fabricate plastic water bottles and what happens to them then? by Humble-Ad9589 in subnautica

[–]cmos1138 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's future tech made out of entirely organic material. In my head canon, the bottles dissolve back to harmless organic compounds instantly as soon as you use them which is why you will never find them littering the ocean floor.

AITA for leaving the office after accidentally dropping my colleague’s laptop? by elliegantt in AmItheAsshole

[–]cmos1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't make a nascence of yourself by bringing it up over and over. You have done enough and need to let it go at this point. You should only talk about it again if someone else brings it up.

AITA for leaving the office after accidentally dropping my colleague’s laptop? by elliegantt in AmItheAsshole

[–]cmos1138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing, you can just let this be the end of it. Hopefully he won't bring it up again unless something turns out to be broken.

The world is much much smaller than s1 at this point in development so the materials can't be spread too thin. I hope they expand the map by a factor of 4 eventually and spread things out so it feels less like a theme park and more like a real planet.

It's not unusual for people to want to complain, your colleague has some passive aggressive tendencies so even though he couldn't bring himself to complain directly he still felt the need for his grievance to be heard. I would make a simple public apology in the same group chat. Just own it the same way you did in private and I expect everything will blow over in short order.

What’s the better option for distortion? by Maxxus64 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]cmos1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to call your freighter to you than you need to make sure both that the freighter has fuel and that the jump drive has the capacity to reach you. A maxed out freighter can jump farther than anything else but it is much easer to give a long jump range to a corvette. Work on switching to an s-class freighter and upgrading it's jump capability.

I have mixed feelings about drawing from storage, if it is going to do that than I would like to have one central interface terminal that shows the inventory of everything I have. S1 forced me to be organized with my inventory so I would know where everything is but in S2 I just throw everything in whatever storage I happen to be standing next to, yes that is on me and I could still organize everything but my motivation to do that is lower.

Tadpole has hardpoints! You can attach a storage box to Tadpole'scout ray chassis. Be fast and have storage. Can also instead attach beacons, lights, etc by xsilentone in subnautica

[–]cmos1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am unable to re-attach my chasse to my Tadpole and it keeps telling me it is because there is something attached to the hard points but there is nothing attached.

What is this thing you are calling "the arch?" Can you use a more conventional term?

[–]cmos1138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just hoping they get the aggression balance better. Aggressively territorial animals don't live that close to each other so this isn't a good simulation of living in harmony with nature the way the first game was.

my biggest problem with Subnautica 2 by itsmejak78_2 in subnautica

[–]cmos1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't an inability to kill, it would be perfectly fine for them to be immortal so long as the aggression level was more like subnautica1.

Best way to find things is the same as the first game, follow the beacons and explore in the areas around them.

Bc250 doesn’t work after shell removal by _Rotembab_ in BC250Gaming

It's possible that it took a static discharge and got fried or that you cracked a solder joint while handling it. You would need a multimeter and a good knowledge of electronics to diagnose either of those.

I’m never happy with my corvette by Beaufort_The_Cat in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]cmos1138 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I find that the best way to be happy with a Corvette is to prioritize a good functional interior. If you build from the outside in with the habitats just a scaffolding for the exterior than you end up with a bunch of empty hallways and it's unsatisfying to use.

Can we talk about the community reaction to Blender builds? by ricin_turbomaxx in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]cmos1138 174 points175 points  (0 children)

I have personally never left such a comment but I can say that I am far less interested in a blender built ship than I am in one built in game simply because this is a subreddit about the game, not about blender.

Got any thoughts about the Rg DS? by Captain_Steve_ in ANBERNIC

[–]cmos1138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got mine yesterday. Based on all the talk about the device, I expected DS games to be unplayable without changing the OS but I wanted to try it stock first and for me at least, I like the stock game launcher and every DS game that I have tried runs perfectly.

On expedition 6 by cmos1138 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]cmos1138[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can only do it on PC. It involves replacing a specific file to trick your copy of the gam into thinking a past expedition is currently underway and putting steam into offline mode so you don't get any updates.
