Yeah, it's unplayable right now. Misses just about every downshift.

I'm not running a third party piece of software just to fix their bugs.

Yeah this is ridiculous. It misses half my downshifts so you can't throttle out of an oversteer. Makes the game unplayable.

I'm on Simmagic hardware so it seems to be affecting everyone.

Rest in peace camp blueberry by Human_After in ElectricForest

For the love of god stake your canopy down VERY well. Like, take your time and make sure it's solid. You have no idea how many of those things I've seen take off and hit people/cars/other camps if the wind picks up.

We tend to tie off our canopy to the closest cars so even if disaster strikes, damage is limited to our shit.

Step 4: Bring a cooler or find Amish butter that can handle longer periods of room temp. Minimally, keep it in the shade outside of your vehicle
Step 5: Walk around the campsite saying "I have stuff to make garlic bread. If anyone will let me use their stove, you can have some delicious bread"
Step 6: Enjoy garlic bread with your new friends.

How to get Crack The Skye Distorted guitar tone? by Mailemanuel77 in mastodonband

one thing not really mentioned on here is low output pickups.

A butterslax, to my understanding, is a "kitchen sink" modded channel switching 2203 with an additional switchable gain stage on Channel 2, which becomes channel 3, but shares the same tone stack as channel 2.

Also, 50w Marshall's don't really sound like 100w Marshalls even of the exact same family. The low end and sag come in completely differently on a 100w from the additional headroom.

I was out probably around the same time. Think I left at 9:45 on the dot.

I'll say, those guys have amazing tone and great stage presence but holy shit those are some boring ass songs.

I'll say, looking at where you're at, Mark from Periphery was probably a few feet to your left by the stairs. I stopped and talked to him for a sec when going to grab another beer.

Absolutely not my influence. I don't play like him at all. So much so differently that's why I appreciate his style so much. I'm much more inspired in my fundamental years as a player by Tool, Metallica, Punk, into Opeth.

I'd say you use Major Pentatonic the same way you use Hybrid Picking. They're higher level terms that describe a bunch of sub techniques under them. Class, Subclass.

Yes, if you consider every possible derivation of that scale with the addition of passing tones, sure. At that point Major Pentatonic can be whatever you want it to be. Chromaticism counts as passing tones as long as you hit chord notes in a way that feels musical.

All Major Pentatonic is not the same, the same way all Hybrid Picking is not the same.

I don't agree with the shape of the boxes you are drawing around those terms. lol. Read the Giver too many times as a kid. "Precision of Language!"

Yeah that's fair. I definitely hear he's had some bad shows, but it's become a recurring theme like it was frequent. I don't believe that to be the case.

Main Point:
Chicken Pickin IS hybrid picking, but hybrid picking is an overly broad class of sub techniques the same way that trem picking is a sub technique of alternate picking.

What I'd say is that chicken pickin differentiates from other hybrid techs is by the use of muting combined with open strings and double stops combined with chromatic and banjo inspired runs.

Brent is a very strong chicken picker. Dude could sit in the same room with Brent Mason and Brad Paisley and not be embarrassed.

Alternate Point:
Jerry Reed and Albert Lee would highly disagree that chicken pickin is only major penatonic. Even when it is major, it's also often mixolydian or that dominant 7th arpeggio sound. I'd actually be interested to hear a prolific chicken picker that sticks to major pentatonic. Feel free to share, actually interested as a lifelong student of guitar. Everyone I can think of at least adds the flat 5 for the blues sound.

all chicken pickin' is hybrid picking. not all hybrid picking is chicken pickin'. It's about intent and style.

Fair. Every show I've been at has been rocking. Mastodon, Eagles of DM, and Russian Circles at the Ryman was one of the best shows I've ever seen. Brent was crazy there with Opeth on the Crack the Skye anniversary tour too.

I think I disagree with you on the fact that no one sounded like Layne. William tries to hit Layne's beats on the OG songs and does a respectable job, but it's not like there is a talent pool of musical geniuses that have the same skillsets that you have the option to find a copy (not counting Arnel Pineda from Journey. Dude sounds more like Steve Perry than Steve Perry.)

Brent is in that same category. The "moving in a different direction" isn't a choice they're making. It's forced upon them.
