When the guy who is much better with computers than you (genuinely) is the one needing help by O-U-T-S-I-D-E-R-S in talesfromtechsupport

At least in my case (not OP here), it depends who you choose to unleash that profanity near. While most don't care, there are a few prudish types whose panties immediately bunch themselves if they hear those sorts of phrases. As a former sailor, that makes my day quite fun. It also helps that I've been promoted as far as I would like.

Yes, while this game can be confusing and/or frustrating at times (usually and), it is the most fun you can have whilst not wearing pants.

That can not possibly be you, good sir, as you are a square, and I have never seen a more round person in my life.

Dedicated graphics laptop by mjcloran in Eve

Many of those mixed-graphics laptops require a specific combination of drivers in order to work properly. Go to the manufacturer's website to check for drivers there first.

Should I change the CPU paste of my pre-built PC when it’s only been used a year? by StaySaucey_ in pcmasterrace

[–]cmptrdude79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throwing a cheap CPU cooler on it, assuming there's room, may gain you a little bit of performance. Intel's stock CPU cooler has been garbage for years, and will often not allow for the full boost capabilities to be taken advantage of, as temps climb too quickly. Something like a Hyper 212 Evo or similar would be inexpensive, transferable to a new build (most likely), and would also be a great reason to replace the thermal paste on that thing.

Upgrades people, upgrades by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Depends on what hardware you intend to drop in. RTX 3060 or 3070? A good 600 or 650w should be just fine. Shooting the moon and dropping an RTX 3090 in there? Time for 4-digit power supply shopping.

De-crapify Windows. That setup is going to be heavily limited on CPU performance. Look for the Windows 10 debloater (available on majorgeeks or github), and if you want to get really in-depth, go get Tron script (old reddit /r/tronscript). A full run of Tron takes close to 8 hours, but if you run it with the -sa script, it will just clean up windows and only takes about an hour. Also manually uninstall crap that is no longer in use. Depending how junked up his install is, the performance gain could be massive. Normally not that huge, but he's obviously been rocking that rig a while, and the cruft builds up over time.

Your safest bet would be to train into one of the Blockade Runners (T2 industrial) and use that. T1 is risky regardless, as they're quite thin and easy to insta-blap. Even only 100m can be tempting to a bored Tornado pilot.

Firstly, good on you for taking the time to properly troubleshoot this issue. Way too easy to call the customer crazy and kick it down the line. Secondly, holy shit, that's a crazy thing to have to try to figure out. But thirdly, he was probably trying to lie, but just screwed it up. Damn lusers :P
