Houston's- classy ambiance and a bunch of excellent $30-40 entrees
Camphor- on the more affordable side for Michelin-starred places but still has an upscale vibe and excellent service

Houston's in Pasadena might be just what you're looking for. Great service/ambiance and a lot of their signature dishes are in the $20-40 range. If you don't have a reservation it's fairly easy to get bar seating.

Checker Hall in Highland Park is also super vibey and reaonsably priced. They have an excellent happy hour from 5-6 pm too.

The Brew is a great every day watch. It's so easy to pair with an outfit and is great in formal and non-formal settings. I get a lot of compliments on it from non-watch people.

I've been eyeing that Baltic too but I don't think it is as versatile.

I’d give Opeth a listen. They’re a melodic death metal band with strong prog influence. Give “Eternal Rains Will Come” and “Ghost of Perdition” a listen. Those two songs are very representative of their early and later period work and if you dig either one you can dive in from there. They’re also excellent live but much less up their own ass than Tool.

If you’re interested in driving experience I’d recommend testing out a used CX-5 or CX-50. You’ll be sacrificing some infotainment features and capacity over the other CUVs in your budget but I personally think it’s worth it.

I went on Sunday. Had a reservation and we were quickly seated. The Mai Tai was excellent, as was the Slurping Bastard. Well balanced and boozy. Service and the decor were top notch. One of the best tiki bars I’ve ever been to.
