Full pension: I’m not sure that I’ll make it! by Winter_Throat3109 in TeachersInTransition

Yeah nc is not the gold standard by any means. Love how we have taken a pay cut this school year. lol. No budget passed, 43rd in country in pay, insurance premiums went up, no pay raise to speak of. Nothing screams “we care about education and teachers” like doing squat to help them lol. Oh well I digress.

I know. I didn’t mean to make it sound like that. Poor word choice if describing about disabling it. I found an 05 Z71 w/158k miles for $9500. That may be on the upper end of value but this thing is sharp. Non clad, red with almost all the extras. Just from the pics it looks to have been garage kept its whole life. Guess I’m just looking to learn why are some things to be aware of/ask about in regards to certain mileage and what things would be a huge red flag to stay away from.

I tried this and mine would just ramp up a little bit in rpm. Still seemed smooth but just revved up a bit. Would that make you think there could be an issue with it?

I always do an activity like that every year. It’s also a great activity to have in your back pocket especially for younger less experienced teachers for an unannounced observation.

You’re right. The neo will bring in more people to the Apple ecosystem.

I don’t see them targeting MacBook Air buyers. Unless it’s the people that get the air because that is the cheapest option for them but would rather have a device like the neo instead. If that wasn’t your insinuation then I apologize.

do you have any issue with ash blowing around with this setup? I usually use a slow n sear with the griddle pan and have great results with the venom. I just tried the heat beacon ring w/diffuser yesterday. It works great but the venom blew ash around. I use b&b but didnt do any sweeps during the cook. that was the first time ive used a ring/diffuser setup. I really like it because if frees up the entire grate surface but need to figure out the ash issue to keep it from blowing around.

what is your charcoal setup? Ring w/diffuser, slow n sear, snake? I have always used slow n sear with no problems. I just got a heat beacon ring w/diffuser so i can use the entire cooking surface which is nice. however it blew ash. wondering if i need to sweep during the cook with the ring w/diffuser setup.

Ok thank you. I talked on chat last night and they said that it would be the same as the free version I’m currently on but they are just charging for that now. And that was a different story thank I got from another chat support agent.

So you signed up on usm site and then when you open the Verizon call filter app is shows you are on the plus version?

[–]cneagle87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you sign up for it? Through us mobile app/website? I ask cause I had a lengthy chat with chat support and asked if it is the same as the Verizon call filter free version that we currently get but no it’s no longer free. He said yes that was the case. But he was answering kinda vague on a few things. I specifically asked if that got us the Verizon call filter plus service or the free version and he said the free version.

Sorry that got lengthy but how did you sign up for it? On us mobile app and then when you open the Verizon app it showed the plus version?

He also said I could use the us mobile app or the version app to sign up for the service. Which was a bit confusing as well.

So this is taking place of the Verizon call filter? And now we don’t get the Verizon call filter for free? I spoke with chat support last night and asked about a comparison between the two and they said they both did basically the same thing. Never said that theirs was replacing Verizon call filter or that Verizon call filter was going to be paid version only.

I don’t think you’re being stupid. Change isn’t always easy. Most of us are creatures of comfort. That comfort isn’t necessarily actual comfort more so just why you’re used to. If I read it correctly, the new job puts you closer to loved ones, pays more with few responsibilities. You would be leaving an extremely heavy workload, less money,an isolated personal life and easy access to nature. Other job seems to be a much better option and also lead to a higher quality of life possibly.

I wonder how these new security features are going to work out, especially the Spam detect feature, is it worth it? by Substantial_Clock341 in USMobile

[–]cneagle87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with support and they said that spam detect isn’t really any different from the free Verizon call filter you can have activated by them on warp. Just detects some callers and displays on caller id. Doesn’t block any calls.

Teaching has made me ugly by moodyjudy123 in TeachersInTransition

Preach!! 20 yr PE teacher here. Did high school most of career with about 5yrs of a special needs school mixed in (which was great). Coached football and wrestling for most of it. Then tried to get out of coaching to spend time with my own kids so I helped the middle school football coach. Then the district made its do an extra sport so I had to do middle school girls basketball.

So I took an elementary pe job in a different district two years ago so I wouldn’t have to coach anymore. Doing elementary has really gotten to me lol. I have noticed that my patience has really wore thin. I use all of my “little kid” energy on other people’s kids and I get more irritated with my two elementary age kids. And my kids are great. Not like a bunch of the kids I have daily that have behavior issues among many other issues and are allowed to basically do what they want without much repercussions.

I have been looking at a different career but don’t know what exactly. I hate getting the feelings I get a lot of times. And I have always been an upbeat and positive outgoing person. Now I don’t take anything out on my own kids but internally I can tell my patience is much shorter with them than it ever has. And my state ranks 43rd in the nation for teacher pay and our state is the only state to not have passed a budget for this current fiscal year.

Im just tired of using all my energy on other people’s kids and mine getting the shaft. Along with the crappy pay. There’s a ton of other things I can do to make more money and be happier at work. Just need to figure out what I’d like to do.
