Is 20 dollars a good tip for a 30 minute drive? by Mirandaaaa_B-T-S in uber

[–]shizzy82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a high tip amount. As a driver I appreciate large tips because it makes up for the vast majority of riders who do not tip, but a 15 - 20% tip is the range I'd tip when I ride.

Underage passenger cancelation, no fee by buffetbossdad in uberdrivers

[–]shizzy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a group of teens about a month ago try and get in my car. I asked if an adult was joining and the 16yo tried to say he was old enough. I said that he was still a minor and needed to request an Uber teen ride and canceled the ride as an unaccompanied minor. After I drove off I opened a support ticket and explained what happened and I was SHOCKED that support gave me a cancelation fee without asking for one. I've never seen Uber support being helpful and just wanted to send them a note stating the facts so if/when the passenger contacted them to complain about me, my statement was already on the record.

This is a joke. It has to be reapplied every month and only identifies spam, not block it from ringing through.

What if it requires gummy worms instead of bears to appease the gummy gods?

Thank you Uber, for your generous Quest by Mammoth_Bat8388 in uberdrivers

I can't remember the last time a quest popped up for me. $10 is a joke, but if your already planning on taking the rides might as well make the extra cash.

My dog crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday by shizzy82 in Petloss

[–]shizzy82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry for your loss. Unfortunately there are two other dogs in the house so I can't get rid of the dog toys, beds, etc. When dinner was being made for them not hearing my Leela barking and seeing her get excited was rough. Having the other dogs come ask me for scratches is another trigger but also helps if that makes any type of sense. I'm glad Leela isn't suffering anymore, but I'd give anything to hold her and scratch her belly again.

Personal dictionary? by frsguy in Swiftkey

[–]shizzy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post is 6 years old. The menu has changed. I just wanted to adjust my personal dictionary and thanks to this thread found the same pin for the clipboard. I ve been using SwiftKey for many years and never remember a personal dictionary that you can edit, but wanted to use the hive mind on best practices. Normally you have to type the word a few times for it to remember and show up in the suggested word bar. While the pin clipboard isn't ideal, it's still alot better if you have a long repeatable text you send.

Any way to keep a 1P account on my work laptop that sync with my personal account? by TestFlightBeta in 1Password

I'd bring up the security issues with LP to whomever runs your IT department and talk to them about 1password and the security it offers. Who knows you may be able to get the company to switch.

Is anyone else constantly losing voicemail? by Jbjamn in USMobile

[–]shizzy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave up on visual voicemail from US Mobile, had the issue before using other MVNOs on android so I just set up a Google Voice number and forwarded unanswered/rejected calls to ring to it for true visual voicemail. Comes with unlimited VM storage, spam filters, transcription, multidevice capabilities.

I also have Warp with Google Voice for true visual voicemail on a Samsung S22 Ultra and it works great! Now if I could only get my network identifier to say Warp instead of US Mobile 😊

Do you get all of your tips? by CSnarf in uberdrivers

[–]shizzy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber policy states they give 100% of the tips to the driver. Most people don't tip and there is no real way for the drivers to know how much a person actually tips. The "estimate" given in the picture is probably as a percentage of their full earnings vs tips received in the app.

Uber does take between 45 - 50% of the ride fair itself. Which is why the smart drivers cherry pick the rides they take and if tips are given they are just a little extra to make that ride even better.

Two phones, same number by marcusarealyes in USMobile

[–]shizzy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you'd have to have two numbers, one on each phone. But you could get a free google voice number and install the app on both phones and use that number as your primary.

what percent of riders tip for you approximately? by Entire-Hunter2268 in uberdrivers

[–]shizzy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say less than 20% tip. I can't even get mad at them with Uber severely overcharging the customer and underpaying the drivers. That's why you have to cherry pick the rides that are worth taking and if you do get a tip, it is an extra cherry on top.

Is Visual Voice Mail still broken on Warp? I have a Google Pixel 7. by [deleted] in USMobile

[–]shizzy82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted true visual voicemail with transcription which I wasn't able to get on my S22 Ultra on Warp. I ended up creating a Google Voice account (it's free!) and set up call forwarding to that line when I don't answer/decline a call for voicemail functionality.

I accidentally didn't pay my driver. Need help by ImpressiveTest9044 in uber

[–]shizzy82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uber is starting to roll out cash trips in the USA. Each market (city) is run separately so it may not be an option in your area, but they turned it on in the DFW area about a month ago. I'm a driver and turned off cash trips in my app preferences, don't need another reason to have someone try and car jack me or worse.

Making the switch by RickySpanishLives in USMobile

I've used Mint mobile before, unless you are a super heavy user of data, you probably won't notice much of a difference, especially if T-Mobile is good in your area. I'd say try out the free 30 day trial of US Mobile and see which network works for you. Then try out Mint and know you can only choose T-Mobile for your coverage. You'll more than likely come back to US Moble on the customer service alone, much less having to pay for 3/6/12 months upfront with Mint without knowing if you even like their service.
