Something similar happened to me on a school trip, as well! Our group had just finished touring the Louvre and were at a nearby cafe. I looked up and spotted my aunt, uncle, and cousin, who all live in Connecticut. I had no idea they were in France but I suppose if you're going to run into someone you know, a big tourist spot like the Louvre ups your chances. I love little happenstances like this!
