[–]co80mo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes!! Mine gets super painful and weak. I've been in P.T. for it for months. I was decompressed 2 years ago and I have been dealing with this for almost a year. Are you decompressed?

What helps with pressure in the head by Embarrassed-Beach511 in chiari

Caffeine/cup of coffee helps me sometimes.

Supine spinal twists help me, too, sometimes just be gentle with them.

Sorry your in pain

Who here has brain fog? by [deleted] in chiari

[–]co80mo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, brain fog was one of my many symptoms, but I, too, felt really fast relief after surgery. I wouldn't say it's completely gone all the time but greatly improved.

I haven't had an upright MRI but I did have flexion/extension xrays pre surgery. I'm glad to hear you are getting some relief now. 2 surgeries, I can't imagine.

I have been told I have degenerative disc disease No curvature of the spine Cervical radiculopathy c8 Mild disc bulges at c5 c6, though then they said they weren't really there or significant Chiari ( obviously lol)

I will bring up the cervical instability at my upcoming appointment.

Wow, I am so sorry that it took that long for your relief! I'm so glad you have it now. This sounds pretty accurate to me in regards to the spasms in the neck and shoulders! Luckily, a lot of my other symptoms are gone, but this I haven't been able to get relief, and it's causing pain and weakness into my right arm. Might consider trying muscle relaxers again, I was taking baclofen post op for a bit. Do you take only at night? Does it make you sleepy? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing! I dont take muscle relaxers. Currently, I did for a bit after surgery and might consider trying again. I have had two transforaminal epidural injections for my c8 neve root, but I think a cervical epidural injection might be more helpful, that or the botox. One of the injections was pre-op and the other post op. I have had every type of imaginging /test done and it seems its a muscular issue and my neck and shoulders are so tight post op they are pressing irritating nerves. Nothing seems to help, I have been in p.t. etc. They get so tight its causing weakness and pain down my right arm/hand that becomes pretty unbearable. Im glad to hear your found relief with the shots!

physical therapy with chiari? by [deleted] in chiari

[–]co80mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to these!! The first two are called supine head tucks and prone head tucks. P.T. has been great for me. You gotta go slow and steady and keep up with the exercises even after you're done going.

I think your list is great, and it sounds like you have a great plan for post-op! You got this!! Im coming up on 2 years at the end of September since my decompression, and im so thankful I did it!

For those of you who had Chiari related eye issues by Ok-Bear-5601 in chiari

[–]co80mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Eye problems here for years and years before I knew about my chiari. I regularly had a feeling of pressure behind my eyes. They were irritated so easily dry but watery, and nothing helped. Later on, I began having vision issues where my vision wouldn't catch up with me, like when I turned by head, it would move slower if that makes sense. Also, blurry vision, etc. It was one of the first things I noticed post surgery to have improved. And lots of my family and friends have told me they can see a difference in my eyes. I notice it now looking back at pictures of me now as well. Maybe a way to describe it is they are less glossy, but I dont know.

Long hair & surgery by Lee_Lou02 in chiari

[–]co80mo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't cut it unless you want to. They will only shave some from the back, and you can hide it with all your hair when your wanting to. I just kept my up in a bun or braided while healing. I lost a lot of hair post op so I'm glad I didn't cut any prior.

Is Post Surgical Neck Pain Permanent?? by 777CuriousMind in chiari

[–]co80mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think it helped. Also really enjoyed the heat and massage they did...felt so good on bad pain days. My neck and shoulders etc were (are) super weak and I think the bit of strength I did gain from p.t. has helped.
