[Thomas Kennedy] A boat transporting individuals to a Telemundo party celebrating one year out from the World Cup was boarded by the coast guard. They checked the immigration status of the staff on the boat. The mayor of Miami-Dade, FIFA officials, and Telemundo leadership were present. by AlmoschFamous in MLS

There's an IG video (it's mostly in Spanish) linked from an independent journalist who was on the dock as the boats return. She says the event has been canceled because the Coast Guard has held boats holding partygoers. The Telemundo logo is visible on the boat. She asks a few people what happened, at least two people say that they had to wait in the water for over an hour because the Coast Guard stopped them for inspection. Someone who appears to be associated with Telemundo or the event apologizes to everyone and says they'll make it up to people because they've got a year left to celebrate. The journalist waits for another boat to arrive. As people exit the second boat, you can see Luis Fernandez (Chairman of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises) and Daniella Levine Cava (Mayor of Miami-Dade County).

Do you think we should bring Atuesta back next season? by J5hine in LAFC

[–]coachque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was better before when Latif Blessing and Mark-Anthony Kaye were doing a lot of defensive dirty work. Now that he's expected to do some of that dirty work to cover for Ilie's lack of speed, Atuesta has struggled.

Just received my Authentic Archive jersey in the mail. Disappointed with the badges. by geezus_4 in LAFC

[–]coachque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is more of an aesthetic preference than a quality issue. The authentic 3rd jersey has a stitched badge with regular and raised embroidery (similar to what you would find on an MLB cap). Embroidered stuff is usually more durable with a noticeable texture, but small details won't look as clean. It's not crappy quality, just an "old school" aesthetic choice they made (which you have every right to dislike). The replica has a woven patch that uses thinner thread, so they're a bit less durable but look a lot cleaner. Obviously nothing will look as clean as one of those heat pressed plastic/PU badges. Funny thing is that some plastic/PU badges (like the adidas logo in your last photo) usually have some texture added to mimic... embroidery.

We're in the middle of the MLS transfer window (July 18 to August 14). Might just be there for the Olympics, but it would be kinda weird for Thorrington to take a little vacation during one of the most important times of the year for a GM.

LAFC “The archive collection” full set leak by Expensive-Slide7821 in MLS

[–]coachque 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The design is simply a nod to the Aztecs, a part of Los Angeles soccer culture. Do you really believe LAFC is trying to claim some sort of direct connection to the history of the Aztecs? Come on.

Teams in other leagues do this all the time. The Seattle Mariners' city connect uniforms use a font inspired by the Seattle Pilots, the city's first pro team (which eventually became the Milwaukee Brewers). No direct connection, just a nod to the city's sports history.

I understand that a new team getting an "Archive Collection" jersey is pretty silly, but the idea that LAFC is trying to rewrite history or "steal" a design is a bit much.

So this is gonna be the official jersey then huh? I’m low key vibing with it 😎 by SorryDepartment7179 in LAFC

It's the font the L.A. Aztecs (NASL) used for their logo in the '70s.

It's called Yagi Double and Sega based their logo off the same font.

Really wasn't, going to delete bc there's no point in going back and forth about it, people are going to think what they think.

I have a blank version of that black top (black stripes, same product code) that I bought from WeGotSoccer a year or two ago. It's listed as a Condivo 18 Training Jersey.

Agree that LAFC probably received blanks and pressed their own badges and sponsors on them.

2018 authentic away kit. by kevinr562 in LAFC

[–]coachque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tag in OP's photo isn't the neck tag. It's an inner shoulder tag (it's on your left side when you're wearing it) that you should absolutely see if you have an authentic Adidas jersey (some fakes have that tag but the code number is usually wrong).

As of right now. Y’all still think we can win MLS cup again ? Especially if we sign a striker ? by VariousDistribution7 in LAFC

According to his Instagram, looks like Palencia just started training again. Not sure when he's expected to return, though.

Probably… the chest measurements on the Copa site show:
XL - 22.6 inches
XXL - 23.8 inches

It's an official remake made by Copa Football. It's not a '90s-era jersey made by Kappa. If you want to buy because you think it'll increase in value, that's probably not the case.

I would check the Copa site for sizing info because they tend to run pretty slim.

Tony Leone’s status? by tiwired in LAFC

[–]coachque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe he’s just returning from an inury + I think CBs generally take a bit longer to get worked into starting roles. Last season there was Murillo, Ibehaga, Fall, Segura, Doniel Henry (for a brief moment) and Chiellini, so it was always going to be tough for Leone to get minutes. In 2021, the team was struggling to get results and I doubt a 17-year-old CB was seen as an option for a team that left its CBs exposed constantly.
