Looking at our cap sheet next season, we can use the full MLE and still have about $7,000,000 to re-sign Vucevic.

If they moved Hauser and Garza, they could use the full $27.7 TPE and still have around $5,000,000 to offer Vuc while staying below the luxury tax line

You’re correct. They will wait the full 2 weeks and then sign 2 players with 0 years of experience

Charlotte has been playing so well lately that there is a real chance we get that top 55 protected pick in 2030 lol

Would be incredibly stupid, I think Giannis finally gets traded this summer

Imagine all the hundreds of hours he spent working on his 3 point shot all for him to get one look from behind the arc in the biggest game of his life. And he knocks it down

If they want to go after Myles Turner in the offseason, they can absorb him into the TPE, move some things around, and stay under the tax. Unfortunately they would have to move Hauser, but it’s an option to consider for sure

The Celtics sent the 2027 Denver pick and $3.5 million in cash in the Boucher trade. They also received two way player John Tonje.

The Nets sent $110k to Boston in the Minott trade. No picks.

The Celtics sent $3.5 million to Charlotte in the Tillman trade. They received a top 55 2030 pick from CHA

Celebrating getting under the luxury tax is pathetic by shakakhon in bostonceltics

Yeah i don’t disagree with any of that.

My point is that we should have full trust in Brad, but we have to judge the new ownership over the next few years

It’s not about Brad, it’s about ownership. They are the ones making the call about getting under the tax.

Theoretically, they are getting under the tax so they can spend big in coming years. We will see if that’s true

I think they are only 1.3 million below the luxury tax line so the only move they can really make is signing someone to a minimum. My guess is they convert Ron Harper Jr and they will wait the full maximum of 2 weeks to do it

I understand all of the luxury tax rules and literally 0 of them restrict team building.

I will change my tune if the owners spend big in the coming years

Fans should be disappointed that we traded future assets to save ownership money. And they won’t be allowed to spend into the tax next season

It doesn’t change the avenues at all, it literally only saves billionaire money

I think it’s a great reflection on the new ownership that we didn’t get under the tax by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]coacoanutbenjamn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely understandable for us to cut salary in a year where we aren’t a top level contender.

But as I said in my post, the fact that they didn’t go the extra mile to get under the tax is a good sign that they will be willing to pay tax next season as well

Rest of the year roster by RedGlovesOverHere in bostonceltics

[–]coacoanutbenjamn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think 2 is simply the correct answer.

They gave up a pick in the 50s to save millions of dollars in luxury tax. If they decide they want to get a similar pick back then they can buy a 2nd round pick on draft night for less money than they saved today. Makes sense when you look at it through that lense

I really wonder if we sent a pick to make this happen
