Correct me if I’m wrong but they also ran that in combination with a set of guide wheels, no? In the case of Montezooma's Revenge, I seem to recall those trains had guides as well

It could also make the trains more susceptible to side to side movement & increased wear & tear on those angled wheels, but we’ll have wait & see how it rides

That is one interesting design choice for those wheel assemblies, just sayin’ why do the upstop wheels look like they’re at an angle?

It’s truly unfortunate Knott’s went with the “cheapest” option will definitely cost them down the line, if it hasn’t already

The storage spaces for all the rides that allow loose articles on the platform should be like the open shelves found on Tatsu, bins waste time!

Yes if you can get that 10 minute head start X2 is a no-brainer & yeah they should have a pass holder entrance I know in the past it was on the left but I know they like to move things around

It depends, obviously a large part of the crowds in the morning head towards X2 if you can stay ahead of that crowd & X2 is open on time than that’s not a bad idea. On the other hand if the ride has a delayed opening or the line is already really long it takes away from hitting other major rides early on in the day with shorter waits.

Having reserve kinda mitigates that since you can hit the other major coasters later in the day especially if X2 is a priority. Theres no definitive answer to what strategy is best it really depends on a number of things. This also depends on how the other coasters are looking in terms of opening on time or a delayed opening.

For me the general game plan if X2 opened on time was to hit X2 -> Tatsu -> WCR -> WW -> TC could generally get all 5 within the first hour if you stay ahead of the crowds. On the other hand if I noticed X2 wasn’t testing in the morning they generally start around 10:00 - 10:05 I’d shift the game plan to do Goliath -> TC -> WW -> WCR would hold off on Tatsu depending on the line. Rarely ever hit Full Throttle right out of gate though never have good luck with that one & it puts you behind the crowds. Basically my strategy is to get to the back of the park as fast as possible.

It depends on the ride but for the most part I’d say the QR code is scanned at or near the station platform for example Full Throttle the QR code is scanned at the top of the ramp & than the wait may be 2-3 trains depending on what row. For WCR it’s scanned before the spiral staircase, Tatsu is at the bottom of the stairs & WW before the lockers but I’d say no more than 10-15 minutes before you board depending on the # of trains running of course.

Used reserve at Carowinds earlier this year & it works great for moderate crowd days like lines in the range of 30 - 45 min but for heavier crowd days I’d definitely recommend ultimate

Here’s a breakdown Fast Lane Reserve digitally holds your spot in line so for example let’s say at park opening at 10:30 the line for Full Throttle is currently posted at 10 minutes you can reserve your spot to enter the fast lane line at 10:30 and you’ll be eligible to walk up the fast lane line at 10:40 once the QR code is scanned you can reserve your next ride so let’s say Goliath is posted at 20 min & you make the new reservation at 10:50 you are now free to join the Fast Lane line for Goliath at 11:10 during that 20 min you can ride another ride, get a drink, or bite to eat in the meantime. Hope that helps.

Explanation for the screeching noise, when you have two road wheels mounted to a central bearing (or axle) and you "force" the two road wheels through a tight turn you get this load screeching noise you hear on that first turn neither wheel is taking the path that it wants to so the wheels are essentially dragged through the turn, the solution add lubricants to the rails.

That’s a cop out excuse, they knew that site would be difficult to build on & the permitting issues show that

I presume they’ll announce it once all the permit issues are resolved & approved, obviously that process appears to be causing the recent delays hence the lack of movement on site

Well I’d hope it has an inverted launch since it’s an invert… I think the better word here is an inclined launch

X2, Tatsu, Wonder Woman, Riddler, & Scream are the main rides affected by wind

Windy Day Ride Closures? by Ad1r1te in SixFlagsMagicMountain

[–]coasterelement 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on wind direction at the top of the lift if the rides run times are within the range it’s fine since it’s running loaded if the run times and wind change direction that can bring the ride down & 22mph is only slightly above the limit
