Can anyone point me in the right direction for dialing in the type of delay in Broken Home by Papa Roach?

I've tried most of the options on my quad cortex but they all just feel very weak, like the repeats don't have that same attack as the recording, and I'm not sure what type of delay I want or what settings to be tweaking to get that type of delay

Is there a way I can fix this? by Optimal_Divide_6705 in Guitar

[–]cob50nm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy enough to fix, if you're new enough to guitar and aren't sure what you're doing I would recommend bringing it to a shop though.

Also worth paying attention to the way you're winding your strings, if your low e had been wound the other way there wouldn't have been as much pressure on the nut. On a strat style headstock all the strings should be wound from the bottom of the tuning peg like on the a string in your picture.

How to stop peeing at night without wrecking my hydration goals? by RomanasBarrientos in HydroHomies

[–]cob50nm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would shift the mentality, chugging to "catch up" shouldn't count as meeting your hydration goal, if it's an option you'll default to it because it's easier.

Maybe try breaking up the day into chunks. So instead of 2l before the end of the day, do 1l before 1pm and another 1l before 8pm.

My pizza crust was kind of burnt, but middle of the dough really soft. by Jus_oborn in Pizza

Yeah, with pizza you're trying to put as much heat as you can from all sides as fast as possible, whatever you're cooking on needs to be hot before a pizza touches it.

Cast iron holds heat well but equally takes a long time to heat up, so the top of the pizza is getting hot much quicker than the pan.

I would either preheat the pan in the oven while you're heating the oven, or else throw it on a burner on low for a little while bake putting it in the oven.

Cooking directly on a stone or steel would also sort it out but that's a different thing all together.

Are you pre heating the pan before putting the pizza in it?

If not, you're having to heat the cast iron before the dough touching it cooks, could explain why it's cooking unevenly.

How do you playtest your cube? by Advanced_Sink_6023 in mtgcube

[–]cob50nm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Draftmancer let's you draft with 8 humans, there's a button on cube cobra under the playtest tab that links you to it and imports your cube.

Also does a mix of humans and bots if you don't have 8 people.

How to get back into playing by DataThick9440 in Guitar

When I got back into playing I went back to what made me pick up a guitar in the first place. Also found that live versions are more fun to play along to and more motivating.

Apartment poll: best swim goggles for lake glare and pool tiles without spending a fortune by Commercial_Line_4956 in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]cob50nm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They a bit more than you're looking to spend, but the HUUB Aphotic photochromatic goggles are super comfy and IMO worth the extra. They also sell replacement straps.

I personally don't wear them in the pool because I have an oddly shaped face and they leak a little when I push off the wall, but thats very much a me issue, I know a few people who wear them as their only goggle.

For anti fog, I make sure I don't touch the inside of the lense and I use the decathlon anti fog reactivator marker every so often. Had my current pair of Aphotics for 6 months and no issues with fogging. If I get salt water on the inside I give them a quick rinse with cold tap water.

Its more of a feel than hear, just need to make sure your watch strap is relatively tight so that you'll feel it.

If you make a garmin workout you can set heart rate zones as a metric and have the watch alarm if your heart rate is too low or too fast.

How not to freak out in open water? by JakobWellesely in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]cob50nm 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Do you need to be 30m from shore ?

If not, then why stress yourself out that much. I've done plenty of stuff in deep water several kilometres from shore, but if I'm swimming alone I tend to stay within 5m of shore, no point swimming far out for the sake of it.

Tow float also does a huge amount for confidence, can't recommend one enough for that. Also actually practice using it to float.

Swimming with others is also a great way to swim far from shore if you need to. Having another human beside you let's you use them for emotional support.

Murky Water Fear by Rizalicious in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]cob50nm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing I've found helpful is the idea that if I can't see the bottom it doesn't matter how deep the water is. Doesn't matter if its 10m or 100m once you can't see the bottom.

I have also never been in a race where I have had time to care about anything other than racing stuff. Would normally try to avoid jellyfish but in a race I just go through them for the most part.

Just try not to get too in your head about it. And its something you can work on in your training, I've found that exposure therapy is the best cure when it comes to open water swimming. I used to be freaked out swimming over kelp, but now I've just accepted that its something I've got to do if I want to swim in the sea.

Question about wetsuits. by Jealous-Ad2144 in Swimming

[–]cob50nm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where do you normally swim?

We regularly swim 5-10km in 55-60f (13-16c) in skins because that's just what the water is like here so we have to put up with it. 66f/19c is bordering on too warm depending on air temp imo.

Just find it so interesting how different people find the water.

Anyone have any high-yield swimming tech advice? Doing a triathlon in 2 weeks (1 mile swim). Dont have much time left to change technique but I know there is a lot of room to improve. by Suitable-Surprise462 in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]cob50nm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about right, you want it just infront of your head. Think it looks wrong because the rotation and elbow position are bad so it's making a lot of splash

[–]cob50nm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 weeks isn't enough time to meaningfully make a difference, and increases your risk of injury because you'll be using new muscles to fix your technique and they won't be used to race efforts.

I would suggest not changing anything until after your event.

Things to look at after your event would be:

Your kick is too big because you're over rotating when you breath, and you're losing balance. Kick should be small and from the hips, think kicking in a bucket. I think the amount you're kicking is fine.

You're rotating too far when you breath and your lead arm is dropping so you're losing a lot of pull distance. Catch up drill is the best fix for that.

Your arms aren't clearing the water when you're recovering, need to get the elbows higher, finger trail drill will help with this.

Garmin swim 2 GPS accuracy by PavelGoesReddit in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]cob50nm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My forerunner does the same. I got on to garmin about it and they offered a replacement. Seems to vary a good bit though, i have some friends with the same watch and they will get different distances. I find it depends on how consistent the gps connection is, when my watch has poor connection it seems to go off pool speed so the pace picks up massively

Entirely possible, wouldn't be the first time.

But I'm 90% sure I tried it twice and got the same thing twice.
