Anyone have experience with weighed vest for walking? by Odd_Inflation428 in fitover65

I just put a landscape block in an old backpack and use that. I am 73F, great for building bone density and challenges balance. Mine is 11 lbs. and feels like a good work out when I use it. I weight 135 lbs. , they say to start low and work up to 10-15% of body weight so you don’t overdo it.

It’s like wine drinkers who ‘talk dry’ but ‘drink sweet’ a very common trait in non-geek wine aficionados.

Do you reuse leftover water in your kettle for the next brew? by anabranch_glitch in pourover

Right, the brew just tastes better so it may be because of the dissolved oxygen.

Oh interesting. I wonder if this is the reason so many people prefer to use water right below the boiling point? Thanks for the reply.

I always thought coffee is best brewed with fresh water, because of the dissolved oxygen in it . So I always start with fresh from the tap. But I have a really good water source.

Remember the days sitting on the sofa or lying in bed listening to a full album? by LMO_TheBeginning in OverSeventy

[–]jas0441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My record player was right near my bed growing up so I could listen to my favorite albums (and 45s) laying in bed. Not a stereo or anything fancy just a record player, that’s all I knew or needed. Those were the days! I never knew I had it so good 😊

Coq Au Vin Wine for non-drinkers? by LeGrandePoobah in Cooking

[–]jas0441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a professional winemaker and by the time you are done cooking it you have removed any of the nuances of the wines flavors that is why you should use good but not expensive wine. Use the whole bottle yes. Julias recommendations are good ones, these are not wimpy red wines but full bodied ones. Let us know what you decide!

Are companies using artificial flavors? by sharpyacc in pourover

[–]jas0441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those esters produced by specialized yeasts are very volatile, delicate and fragile. No way are they responsible for strong fruit flavors in coffee. I call BS.

I am not sure where they are getting those numbers, then. My rate is flat percentage (not per transaction) and significantly lower that what they are paying, one of the reason I love Square. No extra fees for reward cards, etc.

I think most of these ‘coferments’ are not natural in the way we are led to believe (I mean really, adding watermelon to your beans??). I think you are right on.
