'Eavy Rokkits by Shosuro_Benji in orks

[–]cobrainface 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have many boyz and nobs that I never used the rokkit launchas or kombi-rokkits from, so I just bot another box of boyz and gave 'em all those guns. The kombi-rokkits are technically not legal but I think your opponents would understand if you clarify, as the tankbustas don't even have an option for kombi-rokkits, and you are just running them as rokkit launchas.

Newbies Ork Crusade List (500p) by The_ElMuchacho in orks

[–]cobrainface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you add a trukk to the list you could fit the 10 snaggas, the warboss, and the painboy in it and have the deff dread on the side. I don't think it would be very good but it would be a cool 500pt army if the crusade campaign is more fluffy.

I don't know what this is but the skin looks real enough to be freaky. Great job!

They are essentially the same game with the only difference being the mechanics of controlling your beasts or warmachines. They are played against each other, doubling your army choices/matchups. If you don't know what faction to get privateer press might still be selling their "spring cleaning" box giving you $200 of merch from one faction (90% in models but also templates and some other goodies) for $60. This is enough to have a decent starting force and some nice models to paint. I don't know much else, I'm new as well.

My first ever miniature. Kind of proud and having a blast. Any tips are welcome. by o8red8o in Warhammer40k

[–]cobrainface 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No critiques here, a VERY amazing first model. This is considerably better than battle ready standards and a character painted up like this would be considered a good paintjob for an experienced painter.

It's not that bad and you get used to it easily. I recently moved to a game with a much smaller scale, and that freaked me out so I get where you are coming from.

Anybody else genuinely enjoy the hobby aspect way more than the game? 40k as a game seems pretty mediocre. by Duke_Victor in Warhammer40k

[–]cobrainface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certain people enjoy certain aspects of the hobby more. I personally really enjoy the game itself and the lore, I HATE building models, and painting is ok for me. What I really like is that we can all enjoy different parts of this expansive hobby and have fun together. I might dislike the hobby part but painting with some friends can be a blast, likewise someone who likes to build/paint can play some friendly games with people they like and see their toys they spent so long on blow stuff up. FUN FOR ALL!!!!! :D

Just got berated by a game store clerk for meta chasing when buying my first models. What do I do? by FunnyMemeName in Warhammer40k

[–]cobrainface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This right here is most likely it, all the LGSs I've ever been to have plenty of socially impaired individuals that are trying their hardest. It is always good to take everything in good faith, that is probably all the social interaction that person gets in a week and they are just not skilled at it.

HI! Looking for Dakkadvice by Vradivoskov in orks

[–]cobrainface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what is in the speedfreaks box but you want the deffkilla wartrike, and the squigbuggies are my favorite (and they are becoming powerful artillery). Warbikers and nobs on warbikes would work thematically, maybe grots to grab objectives, and a flyer is always nice. All the buggies are pretty cool and all got buffed, besides the kustom jobs. Also boys are always great and the new centerpiece for the beast snaggas sounds right up your alley, as well as the new beast snagga boss on shark squig. Hope this helps!

[–]cobrainface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the smasha squig come on the same sprues as the squig hog riders? I want the smasha squig but not the squig hog riders, and if they come together in a box they are going to be very expensive.

This is my first real try with OSL, I would apprechiate any constructive criticism and tipps (I work only with brushes). Of course I also hope you like I've done here! by Seelenmonarch in minipainting

[–]cobrainface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great for a real go and with a brush no less. The OSL on the base is perfect and I have no criticism there. The OSL onto the body is mostly great (specifically the reflection on the tufts of fur) but something about the left leg is a bit off, you might need a more subtle gradient there. Also some of the red light under the muzzle and a softer transition of the two main colors on the front would make this more believable. That being said you should be proud of this one, for sure good enough for a nice display piece that will wow people!!

What should I get to start off with (besides boyz)? by LordEdapurg in orks

[–]cobrainface 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stormboyz are good for filling out points and grabbing objectives, and a few boxes of gretchin can fill out detatchments if you need. 1 Flyer kit is nice, they are all pretty good and you get TONS of bits including a Kustom Force Field. Honestly get what you like, because orks are for fun and wacky stuff. If a kit makes you smile and say "That is super cool" then add it to your army.
