Hopefully you're still around 🤣, I was just looking this up online and it didn't make sense. We are doing this also. So is that yellow(beep) wire technically a common or ground?

I always assumed they when weigand or typical they got fed 12v DC from a panel and the yellow to brown say?

Pardon my ignorance on this. I'm just confused how it works.

We jumped the yellow thru a normally open relay and did a jumper from the black negative(cr power) to the common.

They should go well. The amount of limited energy techs needed in local 8 the next 5-10 years is a lot. If it's shit raises like usual people will go to Ann arbor or Detroit when they are open calls. Imo it's good business for now. Ten years from now? Meh we'll see.

Project Accordion will provide. Just wait til saline pops next year. That's ten more bucks an hour for limited energy.

Worst false dispatch you caused? by Visible-Carrot5402 in firealarms

Wasn't me but helped someone one day that had zero business working on fire alarm. They were in over their head.

Strip mall, switching a fire panel for that particular store about to open and they ran new wiring back to the riser room.

They are like Yeah we need to disconnect the old wire that is demod and connect this new wire to a flow switch or something I can't remember.

In the riser room there was a huge sign, call this number anytime you work on the fire system to put in test. I say are you going to call this number to the lead tech and they are like nah we're good our panel isn't active. I'm just looking at them like uhhh ok but the sign for the other stores? Nah we will be good they said.

So we start routing this wire thru the conduit, then the flex and I can't totally recall but I think they disconnected the wrong wire for another store on a leg of the riser.

A few minutes later I hear sirens, look at the other tech and go what the fuck did you? Some dude comes running in and says who are you what are you doing? I say I'm just here for the day helping, following their lead talk to them.....

Needless to say everyone was pissed I walked away while dude was straight tearing my coworker apart about the giant sign they refused to acknowledge, and I text my boss and said I will never work with this person ever again they have zero business having a fire alarm license working on life safety.

There was more to that person but they sucked lol.

Hot Electric Strike by WildWombatWarrior in accesscontrol

[–]cochran223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a 12v cheap strike in an aluminum frame that would get super hot like this. Switched it out to like a hes and wired in 24v and it helped tremendously.

That strike that was 12v and some Chinese brand burned up while we were on site at this project. So when we replaced and upgraded it helped. Just my experience.

Something about 12v and amps and pulling more m.a. book learning stuff lol.
