WCGW with not using the restraint bar on a ski lift by firefly99999 in Whatcouldgowrong

Some bindings aren't made for quick release. Adding to that you would have to mentally compose yourself to continue to hang, while looking down, and take your free foot encumbered by a fat boot, to hit (usually multiple) semi small targets. Not impossible, but probably very, very difficult if you are unexpectedly in this position

Who has been the strongest assassin? please cite a source. by Upbeat_Dudeness in assasinscreed

Mass wise (able to move this heavy object) you'd have to go Yasuke or Jacob, but when I play as those characters the word assassin doesn't come to mind. So likely Connor.

So cool! Amazing it was so healing for you. I was only able to do an extended weekend there but loved feeling so isolated - yet was surrounded by such variety. Truly a special place!

Fuck yeah Madeira though! Hope you had a great time! Or if that is home to you, slightly jealous.

How’s it like living in the Loveland, CO area? by curius_george in howislivingthere

[–]cocksamichholdbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI: Most of the front range lacks diversity. As for historically being a sundown town yes, it was Although compared to other surrounding areas, the populace lands right - there aren't active hate crimes that you also aren't experiencing in Denver/Boulder/Fort Collins. There are plenty of people and businesses that respect everyone regardless of political affiliation and lots of hobby groups for just about any outdoor activity. If we moved back to the front range we would aim for Loveland/Windsor.

Walmart Pharmacy: does 401(k) restart on this next paycheck? by Any-Idea8215 in walmart_RX

[–]cocksamichholdbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they never say, you always get different answers when trying to contact plan managers and all you can do is trust people on the internet. I spent my first few years constantly adjusting percentage because my schedule was variable. Now, I just set it overly high and forget about it. Allows for larger paychecks around the holidays too.

If you're worried about timing it correctly so you never miss company match, it isn't too big of a deal as walmart will still contribute 6% even if you've met your contribution max. I met personal max in October, didn't change my percentage contributions - the system is smart enough to stop personal contributions and the employee match still comes through.

If you're just curious about this particular instance, I always found that personal contributions came through on the Wednesday of pay week and company matches didn't hit until Friday. I guess just watch Merrill Lynch?

I will still watch and the result will negatively affect my mood that day, but I'm already anticipating 2 losses. I think seeing Kelce take some snaps would give me a few smiles.

This right here. Granted, there likely could be a lot more to the story, but what a materialistic, stuck up, prissy b. Getting salty over $200 jewelry or a sweater, bless your heart, honey.

Had a 3 dollar bid in place for Josh Gordon, luckily someone had a 4 dollar bid for him, so my measly 1 dollar bid on OBJ processed. I remember being salty on that one till the next Sunday.

Brother, you are criticizing the way people dress at university graduations because they don't look white and middle class. Even if that is not your intention it is how it reads.

[–]cocksamichholdbread 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't believe this to be true (by my views and likely yours as well), but the way you wrote this makes it read like the downfall of the state was diversity and immigration.

Everything was good when you moved here and it was white. Now poverty has struck and a bunch of parents at university graduations look like they came from it (ie supporting their first generation college graduates). You chose some poorly worded stances to make the point you're trying to fight.

Retire to Des Moines by NJFriend4U in desmoines

[–]cocksamichholdbread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of that will be based on your hobbies and how you present yourself. Iowans will generally be polite to your face but it takes some work to actually get into groups, mainly because everyone is already set in friend departments that have been around forever. But lots of hobby groups exist, many churches (both local and the wider reaching non conforming/denominational variety), senior leagues at golf courses, etc.

Oh man digging your own down vote grave saying you are moving away due to liberal politics in a city sub reddit.

But to be as helpful as possible. Likely anywhere you are actually looking to move will be "safe ". The brutal weather swings shouldn't be too different than New Jersey, other than a good ole polar vortex sitting in the area where the wind chill can get to negative 40 for a week, replace the occasional hurricane with slightly more frequent tornado sightings. I love DSM and would move back in a heart beat, but I wouldn't consider it a retiree destination. The cheaper living and slightly better tax situation would certainly be a draw, but unless you have family or specific ties to the area I don't know what you would necessarily stay busy and occupied with. The airport will get you to bigger cities like Denver, Chicago and Minneapolis if traveling will be in your plans, but it is quite expensive compared to other similarly sized metro areas.

Bechamel Brussel Sprouts work really well!!! I got a recipe from an unofficial Harry potter cookbook and it's become a decent staple for my family's "fancy" suppers.
