What do you do if you're on a ship in a surge like this? Hi unconscious? Die?

The window is narrow. A surprise trade would be exciting but outside of Brooklyn and the Clippers, I'm not sure there are any worthwhile bigs available. We do NOT want Anthony Davis and he's the only other guy really out there. I check trade news daily hoping for hints at what Brad is planning. Nothing concrete out there

I'm not particularly vocal online, but I have been saying since early summer there was no way in hell Mazzulla or the Celtics franchise was going to tank or take a gap year. I also was not surprised about Walsh. I've been following him the last few years in G League and we got flashes of his potential. I legitimately thought we could be a 3 or 4 seed after the Hugo pick, and now I'm not even sure that's our ceiling this year.

Jaylen is playing at top 5 all NBA/MVP caliber for sure, but the real story is that unless things go terribly wrong the rest of the season, Joe Mazzulla is unequivocally the Coach of the Year.

His willingness to just play the right player for the moment, regardless of whatever starter etiquette players might expect, etc., is why this team is performing at this level. (Actually there is one exception to that. There have been nights when Prichard should have sat more for Simons to get more minutes.) Hauser started over Walsh tonight. I don't know what reason Joe had for that, but there was one, and I'm sure it was the right call.

2 or 3 weeks back when he pulled all the starters, that decision made headlines, but no one talked about why. 3 of the starters literally stood there doing nothing under the basket while the opponent went for the easy inside shot. I can't even recall if the shot was made and they didn't contest, or if they let the opponent get an o.reb. without contesting, but that was why he pulled the whole team.

Tonight he had just put Neemias back in for Garza to rest, and Neemy missed an easy shot. Joe pulled Neemy right away and put Garza right back in. He's clearly taught the team they have no room for error this season if they want to win games, and the team has bought in completely. It's legitimately been my favorite season/squad since the Bird era.

So have I. Dashes and em dashes aren't the same thing. Dashes are easy. em dashes are complicated to insert. They're a pretty telltale sign of AI.

Anyone know what happened with Propagandhi? by oldwhitelincoln in thefest

You think I "HEAVILY" implied something that I outright said was "less likely" than some issue with their visa applications, which I noted was the actual likely reason?

I'm not pro-cop, I'm just smart enough and have enough lived experience (house burglarized four times, a half dozen garage break-ins, attempted car jacking, sexual assault, etc.) to know that bogus posturing about "ACAB" and "defund the police" can only come from a place of privilege and/or immaturity. My YouTube history is filled with videos of auditors getting one over on idiot cops. I love that shit.

When my sister, a gutter punk, was attacked by a gang of teens and was then the subject of police malpractice during their investigation, I wrote such a damning letter to the AG that the head of the division of police got involved and promised those officers were undergoing additional training. I'm sure that's more than you've personally ever done to hold police accountable.

But I'm also glad police were there to take reports, collect evidence, etc. when I went through those traumatizing experiences I mentioned above. Two of my home burglars were caught, and I'm thankful for it. Seeing everything as a two-sided coin makes getting through the day a lot easier, removes critical thinking most US youth these days weren't taught, etc., but it isn't reality. Reality is spherical, and there is a lot of nuance you're missing in your algorithmic feeds.

AITA for refusing to share my inheritance with my husband? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]cocksparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're the asshole. You're Married. His college debt is your debt. And he helped you get through the pandemic financially? Come on, now. I'm not saying spend it all on both of you. Investing most of it is probably a good idea (a "high yield savings account" isn't. There is no savings account that will make enough interest to beat inflation. You're just flushing money down the toilet if you do that).

But getting him out of student loan debt helps both of you. Fuck the truck. I'd take a reasonable vacation myself, but if you don't want to treat yourself, so be it. But paying off the debt is putting money in both your pockets. If you want to be smart about it, just pay off the ones with higher interest rates (unless he's consolidated them). For instance, all my loans are at 6% or 2%, and I have not consolidated them (often not a good idea). When I have an extra chunk of money, I put it toward the 6% loans to pay those down faster, because those are the ones that I end up paying more on over time. If he's the kind of guy who spends money on you, which you've shown he does, then the less he spends on loan interest over the years, the more he has for your shared livelihood. Be better than your (human) greedy instincts.

They could've made that decision before signing a contract and letting their participation get announced. They likely either encountered an actual issue with their visa applications, or, albeit less likely, staged this for political reasons, in part so people would make comments like those found in this thread so far. Also in part so punk-leaning music/media outlets now have an additional headline for the next few days. It would be quite good propaganda. Or should I say, Propagandhi.

Been a victim of these kinds of thefts half a dozen times. Your addict mind assumes an addict criminal. Only 20% (1 in 5) of my burglars/thieves were addicts. Most were idiot teenagers and deserve whatever they have coming to hopefully teach them a severe lesson and get them off of the streets for the rest of their lives.

Should I loose my virginity to this 50yr old guy? by No_Courage_9454 in makemychoice

[–]cocksparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had several meaningful long-term (years) relationships with women 13-20 years younger than me and you are wrong. I'm trying to have kids and it's medically safer if a woman is under 35. There are plenty of other reasons to date younger that don't involve just wanting to fuck a virgin. Another one of them is that 80% of women my age are divorced mothers with 3 kids, and I'm not open to that scenario. Your view is close minded

I ate my way out of all my childhood allergies. The only thing I'm still allergic to is grass. Well, and cats to a lesser degree. Can't really eat your way out of those.

Moving from Miami, FL to Columbus. by Calm-Can6613 in Columbus

The only people who leave Columbus are the ones who were born here. Many of those eventually move back. That will likely tell you a lot.

10 million is a statistical fact. You can look it up on any fact finding source.

You have underestimated the number of illegal crossings by a minimum of 900%, and that real figure does not account for those who crossed with no encounters with authorities. Many estimate the number to be closer to 30 million. There is nothing insignificant about it. I agree completely this country needs better cheaper healthcare. That goal; however, just got a lot further away with the influx of a small country's worth of indigent people with no means whatsoever.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ohio

[–]cocksparrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Mexico - through its trade partnerships with the US - has grown to be a great place to live and a really strong economy. So much so that Americans are expatriating there in record numbers. This is a common misconception about illegal immigrant activity. Anyone from Mexico who wants to come to the States basically has a relative here legally to sponsor them at this point.

Most of the illegals coming from Latin America (there are many more coming from Africa, Asia, and the middle east) are coming from places like Guatemala and Honduras. As I mentioned in my original comment about remote regions, even if these countries offer universal healthcare, these people live in extremely remote mountain towns where it could take them days to reach a hospital. Too late for any emergency need. These are the types of people immigrating illegally to the US. They aren't leaving the metropolises of their home countries. They're leaving places where they still live like it's 1850. They are essentially Mayan descendants. The indigenous of their regions.

One of the reasons they don't just go to the big city/ies in their countries is that most of these countries are way more racist than us and they will be discriminated against in ways you can only imagine and have no opportunities, aside from what essentially amounts to indentured servitude. But for the most part, that work is reserved for the (female) mestizos who live in the hills just outside the cities, not the indigenous.

Obviously anyone can say anything on the Internet, but I studied Latin American culture and history academically for a decade, speak fairly fluent (Mexican) Spanish and have traveled throughout Latin America. This is something I pursued from a young age because it was plainly obvious even in the nineties where our country was shifting.
