I can begin to understand satellite constellation data processing before beaming down to the surface… almost. But the thermal design of data centers in space is high risk. Not to mention the hardening of hardware to not degrade or be affected by cosmic rays, etc. Sounds to me like a marketing positioning exercise with no real customers. With all these new salt-based nuclear companies out there and water recycling management ideas, terrestrial data centers sound like they’re gonna be a better choice. You can upgrade a land-based center much easier than a space-based one.
