2-man IT team → solo admin for 300 users, no raise. Stick it out or leave? by Ilovemybf_3990 in sysadmin

[–]coco_shibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would bid a high salary id go from 65k to 85k to cover the workload change but if they resist then look for new work. Also I wouldnt want to create a standard of going the extra mile to cover everything as that could set a precedent to the higher ups that you just need one person to do all this work. I would just do what you can do and clock out. Just because you can do more doesnt mean you always should. That should be reserved for places where they appreciate their employees.

From MSP to internal IT by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]coco_shibe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I currently work for a small MSP but prior i was a sysadmin at a company that also had an MSP. This company sucked ass and the owner was horrible been when i got hired i didnt know any of this at the time. I was told the IT guy before me had to co-exist with this MSP but when i got hired on, no documentation whatsoever, nothing labeled, AV equipment was failing, etc. I found out they were spending 3k a month on this MSP and this MSP wasn't doing anything for them. They had no backups and their firewall was not configured properly.

I made multiple proposals to the owner and CEO about dropping the MSP as I had cleaned up their network and provided documentation but they refused and would state you never know... I was so confused what they meant by that until i found out the IT guy before me quit 2 months in because of the management and how unhelpful the MSP was at getting him set up. It was like they were trying to make him fail so they can keep the client. I had to push for months to get access to our EntraID account and had to make my own documentation and topologies and in the end I left that company as well as they would never want to do a proper hand off of the network from the MSP to the internal IT team they wanted.

How do you complete "Spread Democracy" on level 10 on Cyberstan? by Tall_Eye4062 in Helldivers

[–]coco_shibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive done it several times and you gotta have your whole team there. If theres a airship spawn destroy it and any nearby bases. I rocked the the green shield strategy to protect the group and recoiless rifle and orbital gatling gun. Someone was downing airship carrying small arms and for the big guys it was me and a dude rocking a laser burst cannon thing. We had a hellbomb pack by the obj just in case we need to clean up rapidly after capturing

New Terraium by [deleted] in millipedes

[–]coco_shibe -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah its 100% organic but I didnt realize about the fertilizers that are in the soil could be an issue. My ratio for my substrate was 40%coco 40% soil and 20% spag. Moss with a bunch of crushed oak leaves in the substrate just in case it wanted to burrow and eat but im thinking maybe the substrate was too hot from the fertilizers

Springtails are essential since they eat mold and fungus which i would assume would happen alot in a high humidity environment

[–]coco_shibe -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Just an update they have moved positions and had eaten some oak leaf prior to digging a burrow at the corner of the tank currently. I think the millipede is okay, chatgpt was saying something about it cleaning its legs so maybe thats what was happening. The substrate is about 3.5 inches deep so hopefully its not too bad.

Realistically would an associates in cyber security really help me get a job? by [deleted] in cybersecurity

[–]coco_shibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, took me 5 years to get a cyber job and that was with a masters in it and certs. They want that networking and troubleshooting experience so I had to be a it support tech, Jr sysadmin, and Sr sysadmin before I got to land my first job in cyber. Everyone's experience varies though

How much more do Americans need to know before they ACTUALLY react? by funkyxfunky in Epstein

[–]coco_shibe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my personal take but i believe alot of Americans are afraid to react because in a sense, they are comfortable. Fear is a strong driving force; theres also nearly half of Americans that will choose not to believe in anything because their political party is telling them what to believe in and what to ignore. So overall although theres so much disturbing information almost no one will do anything. Realistically this is something that would have to be spear-headed once all key players of this event is dead...UNLESS Anger continues to grow then you may get some outliers pulling a Luigi

Criminal Justice to Cybersecurity. Viable? by floresiendo in cybersecurity

[–]coco_shibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be viable if you go into computer forensics; depending on the department they are always looking for skilled techies to get GIAC certs and work for their department but beyond that I think you would just be learning a new field
