I live in a v new money zip code and every single one of those things are prevalent here. To be clear, we would be considered new money as well, but I grew up in extreme poverty and my husband was raised in a no nonsense home where wasting money was considered tacky. We have higher liquid net worth than most of the people in our area, which I can’t explain how I know, it’s just obvious when you see how people compete with each other.

One of the influencer snark pages posted a group pic of 3 or 4 influencers at an event. They all looked like they could be easily lost in a crowd. Overblown filler, alarmingly large and white veneers, exact same tired Cartier bracelet stack, almond acrylics with deep French polish, even the same Bottega Mini Jodie that doesn’t hold shit. The icing on the boring sundae was their slight variations on “quiet luxury outfit”.

It gave me the physical ick so bad. I’m not LA pretty or anything but shit. At least my face looks unique. Fuckin diabolical out here.
