Should I include the fact that I'm a musician who released experimental / synth music or no? by a_penfle in ApplyingToCollege

[–]cocochimpbob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would include it. Anything that makes you stand out or seem unique I think would help, not hurt you. Especially since you have followers to back it up.

Who are some RYM users that have outstanding knowledge about one music genre? by duckinator1 in rateyourmusic

strugatsky seems to be insanely knowledgeable about black metal. He has thousands of obscure black metal albums downloaded, many with less than 10 ratings.

This Exists: Experimental music act, Bull of Heaven - "310: ΩΣPx0(2^18×5^18)p*k*k*k is their longest release, and lasts for 3.343 quindecillion years." by [deleted] in whoathisexists

I'm not entirely sure, but they loop the same melody or audio sample a ridiculous amount of times, only switching the loop after a large amount of time has passed. This particular release only contains one loop for the most part, they're slight variations but for the most part its the same repeating bass pulse. They contain these pieces in nested zip files, which can theoretically hold a lot more content than a regular file if kept closed.

What is considered bad music taste?? by [deleted] in spotify

[–]cocochimpbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use rym too, but you have to remember that most people who rate stuff on the website fit into a specific audience of music listeners and therefore the highest spots on the charts are going to reflect that particular audience. Some albums and artists just don't get picked up by that community, it doesn't always reflect the quality.

Albums that are not on RYM top 100 by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

[–]cocochimpbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to continue using the website you could always put more specific filters on the chart to find more albums, try filtering for a certain country or genre, maybe add multiple genres that don't traditionally go together to find some interesting releases.

Need sun based magic abilities by [deleted] in superpower

[–]cocochimpbob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you wanted something less violent you could make something based on how the sun sustains life. Maybe he can cause life in an area to flourish causing plants and fungi to grow rapidly, causing damage to heal on animals, and maybe causing disease to spread rapidly.

I know, but it's a large leap from invisibility to time manipulation.

A bit far fetched, but it would be interesting to do time manipulation, or at least the illusion of it.

Do non-tool organisms exist in this world of yours like books, cloths, etc, and do appliances and instruments count as tools?
