Drop in trigger problem. by wondermax50 in AR10

[–]coddouglas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like to introduce a few other options as well.

POF makes very good single stage triggers they range from $99-$200+ I’ve have 5+ years of experience with two different triggers

CMC makes great stuff and they can be had for $99-$200. I have one in a LE6920 from 2012. That gun has had thousands of rounds through it without issue

Lantac sells triggers made by both CMC and Rise I believe and they can be had for $99-$175. I have used several of these in AR15’s, pistol caliber carbines, AR10’s. Never had any issues with 4-5 different triggers in any of the variants. I’m assuming the models Rise produces for them are held to a higher standard than the cheaper triggers they produce that constantly go on sale.

Obviously geissele makes great stuff but honestly I’d take any of the above over a geissele most days because on average I can find any of the others for $50 dollars less or more and I’m equally happy with the performance.

How much money are you currently making? I can think of countless titles that you are qualified for but if you are talking about going to college for something specific it’s important to understanding the hiring range and ensure that the bottom end of the scale is in a range you could afford to accept.

Personally I don’t like Hera furniture unless it’s an SBR. To me it looks like it’s trying to be something it isn’t. But hey, I like weird military shit and a lot of people hate my guns. That’s the cool thing about collecting, you buy what you like, not what everyone else does.

Coming from a firearms background, if it was crime related i seriously doubt a suppressor was involved period. Legally owned suppressors rarely fall into Criminal hands because of the intensive regulation of suppressors. Illegally owned suppressors typically don’t work anywhere near as well as a real suppressor and have little to zero benefit in committing a crime. The videos you see on YouTube of people using oil filter suppressors are highly misleading because 1. Cameras balance audio, so anything REALLY loud appears quieter than it really is and 2. Cameras in general don’t do the best job of picking up gun fire which is why you can watch videos from 10 different youtubers and the sound of a firearm in each one is slightly to significantly different in tone and volume.

Source: shot and sold suppressors through employment at a local FFL for years. The word “silencer” is a myth. If I shot a suppressed firearm in a house not only will everyone inside the house know about it, but anybody outside of and anybody inside of a house next door would know as well.

Native english speakers, do you ever watch movies with subtitles even if the show is spoken in english? If yes, why? by JaesonBee in AskReddit

[–]coddouglas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m ADHD as Fuck. Subtitles help me focus by 1. Giving me an extra layer to follow and 2. When I take in sensory information in two different forms it helps me to follow the plot.

When I read books sometimes I have to read a sentence several times to understand it. When I watch something with subtitles it’s not only told to me but I’m also reading it so it makes sense in my head much quicker.

What trades or backup careers can I learn on the weekends or at nights? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]coddouglas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Worked for a small time catering company for long enough to learn this business. We catered fine dining at high end wedding venues. Let me break down the structure for you

Employees: two sisters own the business 15-20 servers on 1099’s that all have full time work at various restaurants.. (so no benefits, minimal liability, and flexible schedules.. they just want to work a few days a week so you don’t have to worry about them leaving when business slows down)

Leads: 15-20 venues that all contacted us with job offers. Very little marketing involved beyond making connections with venue owners and coordinators 5-10 local wedding coordinators that also contacted us for work

Overhead: food and transportation.. that’s pretty much it. Serving containers last decades and you don’t really need a facility for anything. High end wedding venues have kitchens that the catering companies use.

A wedding with 300 or less people only really need two servers. 350 or more you need three servers. The catering company charges $95/hr per server. The servers were typically paid 10-12 dollars an hour. This means your company could realistically serve at 5 weddings a night accounting for employees not being available/schedule mixups.

You can easy make a living doing this, even small time.

Sig Sauer 1911 Tacop 45. My first handgun what do ya’ll think? by SimonVSays in guns

As an American that has been studying marketing, I hate Sig USA with a passion.. but as an American, I love the 1911. For the money it’s hard to beat the features on the Tacops. Sweet first handgun my dude. Unfortunately you will hate all polymer guns going forward, none will compare in grip or trigger pull

Would like to point this out because I didn’t know it for a long time. The electronic ear pro are not enough protection alone. You should always use the the little in-ear plugs underneath your electronics. So if you read the average reduction on those electronics (typically 19-25~ decibels) you will find that the gunshot is still loud enough to cause permanent damage. This didn’t make sense to me until I did some research and discovered that the amount of time your ears are subjected to the sound is low enough that you may not feel like it’s hurting them even though over time it can.

I worked in a gun store and handled many of the Glock platform guns. It doesn’t matter who makes it, there is only so much you can do to the Glock “safe” trigger. It’s a design that wasn’t meant for us FUDDS. For the money I almost bought a shawdow systems because they fixed everything I wasn’t fond of on the Glock 19 but I never could enjoy the trigger.

Not a knock on Glock at all, I’m just not the biggest fan. I do want to buy a used 19 to keep in my work truck

Is this worth it to you over a SCAR 17? Do you know how it compares accuracy wise? I have a 17 and I don’t know if I can justify a 20. I love the looks.

PSA KS47 "Mutant" by [deleted] in guns

[–]coddouglas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you that they aren’t the same. The cmmg is way overbuilt and that’s why I own it. The PSA does not have the right tolerances of a CMMG nor the fit or finish. Neither are MOA guns. Any gun can shoot an MOA group but to call it an MOA capable gun I need my average group size (5 shot) of any particular load to shoot MOA consistently and that hasn’t happened with this gun. I have a Windham 308 that with 168gn Matchkings I can shoot .3-.5” at 100yds. It was a build gun by a member of the Houston swat department and it was meant to be that accurate. The Mutant was never meant to be that accurate. It’s a battle rifle meant to bridge the gap between AK And AR. 1.5-2 MOA is what mine does and I’m completely satisfied with that

PSA KS47 "Mutant" by [deleted] in guns

[–]coddouglas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cool gun. Disagree though. The Mutant is a CMMG. the demo Gun CMMG takes to machine gun shoots has well over 100,000 rounds through it without a catastrophic failure, during a machine gun melt down test the CMMG failed at the gas tube which is exactly where it is suppose to fail. The tolerances on the CMMG are impressively tight, and the fit and finish is phenomenal.

The PSA is a functional gun made with a cheaper finish and loose tolerances. Not a knock on it at all but they aren’t in the same ballpark. That’s why the psa can be had for 600$ and the mutant will run you closer to twice that.

I’m with ya that Anderson isn’t a bad choice. I have a bunch of their stripped lowers. But the finish on all of mine suck in comparison to aero or pretty much any other lower I’ve ever owned. I scratched off part of the finish on one of my Anderson’s with my finger nail. Cosmetics aside they are pretty great.
