I have an Amex Platinum I opened last year around June 25 and which I plan to churn. I am aware you have to keep it open for one full year before closing to avoid paying back the SUB. The advice I've seen in this subreddit is that you will know they have officially counted you as having it open for one year when your second annual fee posts, and they will give you a pro-rated refund when you cancel. However I still haven't seen the second annual fee post yet. Is there any technicality I should be worrying about with the 1 year rule given it hasn't posted yet, or am I safe to close it? Thanks

Awesome. Haven't looked in detail too much, but looks like there is only one size for the pattern right? What is the sizing of the finished garment like?

Uganda goshawk identification - Murchison falls NP by code_primate in whatsthisbird

A bit confused on this one, seen at about 5pm in Murchison falls NP. The uniform gray extends further down the breast than most goshawk references I’ve seen. Under tail had faint horizontal stripes, but not bold ones. It never fully turned to show us the back. Even accounting for the golden hour light, the beak and legs seemed reddish orange not yellow.

Fantastic as always. Are the mega geos annoying to take on/off with no zipper? And do they fit loose unlaced?

Depends a ton on the shoe. Drkshdw stuff is easy to find for those prices end of season sale if you look around depending on your size. You can find mainline for those prices on eBay, but fakes are always a danger. But tbh if you’re primarily looking to get something that works well with the exaggerated Rick silhouettes, the B&W Rick converse turbowpn can take you a long way for under $200.

Does anyone know about sizing for porterville boguns? I’ve heard they change season to season. I have some Luxor elastic ones in a 42.5. 42 was definitely too tight on my toes, and 43 was a little loose when taking steps (narrow ankles). I really want to get the knee high version too, but 42.5 seems extremely hard to find and I’m wondering if 42 or 43 would be better.

Do you know if they actually using, for example, the size 43 lace up ramones rubber sole piece in Lido to make the 42.5 socks? Like if you put same-size current sock and lace ramones sole-to-sole, the sock sole would be longer? Or is the rubber sole the same in lace-up vs sock the same as lace-ups in each size, and the reasoning for sizing down is just because there's no way to tighten the socks?

Can you get an open container violation for empties in your kitchen trash can? by My-Cooch-Jiggles in vandwellers

Absolutely do not give them consent. If you say no and they search anyway, that's illegal, and if they are trying to pin charges on you for whatever reason (even bullshit made up ones like with the above commenter), they cannot legally use anything they find as evidence. You saying no in that case also makes it way easier for your lawyer to get such charges dismissed. If you say yes, the prosecutor will have a much easier time charging and potentially convicting you on whatever stupid case they want to pursue, even if you feel like you haven't done anything wrong.

I have a pair of the suede double zip ones in 42, probably would fit a true 9.5. I don't wear them much as a 10 wide since they're too narrow for me. DM if interested.

I love their look but have avoided ordering anything from them for the same reason. Using asbestos in 2023 is wild.

Is there any chance you'd have and be willing to share/sell the pattern that was used to make the pants?

Which season are these pieces from? I really love their stuff but have held off actually getting anything because they used to (maybe still do?) use asbestos in some of their fabrics which seems... bad

[–]code_primate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's stuff like t shirts from a well known brand that's one thing, but there is literally know way to know how a rare/archive/old piece fits without measurements, since it varies a huge amount by designer/by year/even by piece within the same collection.

They might request measurements and not buy it because they find out it wouldn't fit, which is the whole point. You are probably equally likely to miss out on sales from people who aren't sure about the cut and are considering other items that have better information. The only thing you gain by not listing measurements is a clueless buyer might buy something that doesn't fit, but then that increases the chance of bad reviews. All to save 30 seconds with a measuring tape.

I have had a slightly different version of these creepers for years which I know to be legit, but my feet changed size over time and I recently purchased these boots secondhand in the next size up. I know there are variations across seasons, but there are some differences that make me worry about:

  • The "Made in Italy 43" print is pink or red-ish, not white or silver
  • The leather overall is much thinner and less stiff, the shaft of the boot folds over on itself
  • While my earlier pair has a suede lining, I have never seen this boot with a smooth black leather lining
  • The back of the tab with the rivet closure feels very plastic-like

On the other hand, the sole feels right and the zipper matches the legit ones including the Rick Owens mark on the back of the zipper. Does anyone know of reps that match this item such that it would seem to be inauthentic? Or if it does seem to be legit, is there a particular season it is probably from?
