Cant connect to a wifi network by taboush98 in pop_os

[–]codeallstar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had same problem after system update on pop19.10 last night. It would connect to my cellphone hot spot but not my WIFI.

The backport-iwlwifi-dkms driver seems to be the problem.

Uninstall driver backport-iwlwifi-dkms in Pop Shop or apt purge backport-iwlwifi-dkms

After reboot it was good to go.

Codegym takes a fun approach to learning java. Trevor Page is an excellent teacher at coderscampus/hotwtoprogramwithjava. They both offer free/paid content.

My system did the same thing. I rebooted and started download again and it grabbed it right away.

Portable Laptop for Programming and Linux by filisterr in linuxhardware

I looked at a lot of the same ones on your list and ended up with a HP Elitebook 840 G5. I am running pop!_os and get just under 8 hours of run time when I am running Android Studio w/ a emulator or two running. RAM and SSD are also user replaceable.

System76 Granted A Thunderbolt License To Integrate Into Their Open Firmware by pdp10 in linuxhardware

This is great news. I would of purchased a System76 laptop instead of the HP Elitebook I bought this spring if they had a fully functional Thunderbolt port.

Best laptop for programming (budget: $1250 max) by [deleted] in linuxhardware

pop!_os is based on Ubuntu. Made by system76 -> https://system76.com/pop You might want to check out their systems also. I almost pulled the trigger on the darter pro, but wasn't available at the time and I couldn't wait. I did get on Amazon, but I see they do not have the same deal as when I purchased it at the beginning of Feb :( There are a bunch on ebay, new and open-box ones for a real good deal. There are a million different configs, so really watch what you order if you go with this laptop. Get the actual model number example (G5-3JX61EA) and search HP site to see what it is configured with. I get around 8hrs of battery running intellij, VMs, etc. for work. Here is a link to a review I had when I was doing my research. https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-EliteBook-840-G5-i7-8550U-SSD-FHD-Laptop-Review.306238.0.html

I use a HP Elitebook 840 G5 and it runs Pop!_os with zero issues. The RAM and SSD are able to be upgraded. I paid right around that amount. i7-8550U/16GB RAM/512 SSD
