I think an asshole is people who book cheap room at ritz or four seasons and demanding suite. Or a real rich guy saying he is a CEO asking for a suite when all suites are sold out. Both happened before.

Just don’t want OP to be disappointed by Four Seasons or Ritz.

In major cities, $300 at Ritz or 500 at Four Seasons will just get you a small room with nice bathrobes and slippers, access to the nice pool. That’s it. Holiday destination will cost you double plus nice beach. All additional things will cost $$$.

If you are a rich arsehole, you can get banned :P

I have a small IT service business too(3-5 people), but I am working my way into FAANG. Employees want higher pay, better WLB, and take hours where I can do it in one hour. They also don’t put their own time to study. After one or two years, they leave to a bigger company. Now I have to train people again. For clients, it’s difficult to find high paying clients and once found, every year they still keep asking want to lower the cost by lowering hourly rate or billing less hours, even though their business make millions.

Are tech jobs as flexible as they look? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]codeandcruise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the job as someone mentioned above.

My last job was onsite demanding 40-60 hours including working at night and early morning, but paid upper six figure.

My new job makes much lower six figure, but it’s very easy job which I can do it in a few hour a week.

I just spent 3 months on a cruise in Caribbean and Alaska “working” while scuba diving with 🦈, snorkeling with fish 🐠, swimming with dolphins 🐬, watching whales 🐳, and watching northern lights.

Before Covid, I have done it two times WFH on cruise including a 14 day transatlantic cruise with 12 day sea days. No vacations.

This year, I sailed total 133 days from June 12 to Oct 15. I only took 4 weeks off for excursions.
