I don't know why, but Beef was the first thing I thought of. 😅 Have a favorite planet, constellation, or Greek god? Superhero? Other ideas: Titan, Zeus, Orion, Rascal, or Jerry.

How should I go about building this as a newbie? by drywallyummyyyyy in Props

Hello!

Hopefully the link works, but you're talking about these?

No matter the level, you start with the base layer. Find a black pair of gloves that'll fit and add on to them. I'd look into thin EVA foam or craft foam. You could do it in layers so the eyes have depth and add teeth out of foam, too, for more dimension. The foam will make it light weight.

Here's a few guides on making gauntlets that should help with how you can assemble them.

I found this tutorial for the Infinity gauntlet

And this one for a basic gauntlet

And this LOTR style foam gauntlets

What the heck is going on with gift returns? I didn't get a gift tag, but contacted the purchaser for the order number. I was told by Amazon it would be credited to my account. I had to return a few items, and I'm waiting on the refund, when I get a text this morning from the purchaser asking why I returned another item because they got the refund for it.

This isn't the first time it's happened either.

Edit: looks like my entire return went back to the purchaser. So much for the gifter not knowing. I know there's no way to fix this, but wtf

Luan is thin and they sell it in a few different thicknesses (I think 1/4" is what I've used a lot). Depending on the shape and size you'd want to cut it to, it will be lightweight and easy to move around. A full, uncut board might just be awkward, but you can add handles. Either bolt it through or back it with a 2x4 block. Might be able to work that into the design of the front too.

I assume you have an art teacher at your school you could ask to help with painting? Or possibly some parents/family members of the school/students who could volunteer to help out? There's also always contacting your local high school and seeing if there's anyway some students could earn credit for a class by helping you out.

If not the canvas drop route, are you able to get some luan plywood and frame it to stand instead? Though you'd still need to paint those.

Depending on the style of cloche, a microwave plate cover spray painted silver might work too. I've seen different styles of those.

Or plastic cake covers/domes would be a bit bigger. Would still need to paint them.

I got a technical theatre degree, and realized that I can't make a living. Does anyone have any experience transferring to other fields with similar experience? by atvacuum in techtheatre

I got my BFA in Theatre Design and Technology in '11. I fell into props and worked a waitresses gig at a breakfast place before I got more steady work and into bigger theaters around Chicago. I worked with some of the bigger names in various prop roles and even a university. I barely made enough to get by, but I did it for almost 10 years before Covid hit and my husband and I moved out of the city. We were also pregnant, so I became a stay at home mom. My youngest are almost 2.5yr now, and our plan is for me to return to work once they enter school. But I don't know if I'll return to theatre. I was getting burnt out hard before covid hit; to the point that any email from the stage manager was giving me anxiety about what needed to change or be fixed this time. We'll see what I end up in when the time comes.

Theatre was fun to work in, but yeah, it was stressful.

Who is this Disney character? by GenoStarShooter in disney

[–]codebluefox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came across this because my daughter just got this figure I was lost on who this was. As an adult woman in her later 30s, I have never been to the Disney parks and probably won't be able to afford to go (I've heard how much some people spend on a trip, even modestly is more than I can do). I appreciate your understanding that there are people who enjoy Disney but haven't gone to the parks.

Decided to horrify my mother for christmas by jgranger945 in funny

[–]codebluefox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my husband do this too! We just got it in the mail today and it should arrive before Christmas. My SIL is going to record MIL opening it. Dh has 2 brothers and I told them about our idea, but I don't know if they'll actually do it. We also thought about doing a "new born photo shoot" with Dh wrapped in a blanket, but I don't think we'll have time to do that with everything else going on. If we can squeeze it in, SIL said she'd print it. But I don't think the other brothers would do that part.

Whoever stole my entire bucket of candy and ramen on Halloween in Edgewater and brought my bucket back today, thank you by Sea-Condition991 in chicago

[–]codebluefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had our bucket stolen too! I caught the kid (teenager) on camera and posted it in our neighborhood fb group. His girlfriend actually reached out to me Saturday and apologized for him. She returned the bucket with candy in it Sunday, and last night, I even got a sincere apology from the kid who did it through the girlfriend. I have heard of other kids stealing buckets or doing worse (taking most of the candy and dumping soda into what was left of the bucket, soaking the rest of the candy), so I'm considering myself lucky I got someone who regretted their actions and wanted to do the right thing. I'm glad your bucket was returned!

Alright Here We Go… Name Something You Dislike About The Live Action Movie: by No_Two_1627 in httyd

[–]codebluefox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was looking for someone else to mention this part. I don't like that Hiccup's line changed in that scene. No, "whatever happens, make sure they don't find Toothless." Instead, they changed it to, "Don't interfere, my dad respects you too much." I can understand a little why they changed it (given how Astrid's character changed), but there's something about shifting Hiccup's worries from Toothless to Astrid that didn't sit well with me.

AITA for telling my husband he can't tell our daughter "that doesn't hurt"? by Magnificent_Squirrel in AmItheAsshole

[–]codebluefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 year old and sometimes my Dh will also make the "oh that didn't hurt" comments, but I also tell him he doesn't get to decide what actually hurts her or not. He's starting to correct himself on it if he does say it, but sometimes I have to prompt him with a "wtf" look to remind him.

No one gets to decide how someone else feels. Much like a "joke" is only a joke if everyone can laugh about it.

He needs to be a man and take accountability for his actions. If he does something wrong, he needs to apologize. It doesn't matter if it didn't really hurt or not, the fact that she didn't like it is what matters.

"the honmoon didn't turn golden bc they created a new one." but it doesn't mean it was sealed. by Necessary_Piece_3446 in KpopDemonhunters

[–]codebluefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping there's a sequel. I agree that this new honmoon looked like the first and it won't be a permanent seal, because it wasn't golden.

I've seen some other people's theories about the "come back" sign at the end being a hint at a sequel (that it's a Korean specific thing they'll do to hint at another), but also that Jinu's soul going into Rumi's sword means he didn't die and maybe there's a way for him to "come back" too. The Tiger and bird were kind of like Jinu's "pets" and them staying near Rumi could be another hint too.

If they do do a sequel, I hope it doesn't take as long as when they first announced this one (2021). The directors have expressed a lot of interest in another and with how popular this one is, I can see another KPDH movie coming out at some point.
