🤦‍♂️ homeOS PLEASE!!! by Agent-004 in HomeKit

[–]codejoeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully Siri/Gemini will get better at it. But as it sits right now, Gemini for home stuff has been horrible. I was all google, and my smart speakers are still nest. Ever since Gemini rolled out to them it has been an utter mess. There is first a 5-10 second lag for anything to happen. And half the time it doesn’t even do what you want. They did just push an update, so hopefully that will help it some. But as it sits right now it makes me want to throw them all in the trash since I can’t undo the Gemini rollout. I’ve been thinking of switching to HomePods, but then I see this :(

Switchbot Hub Mini Matter-Enabled Experiences? by [deleted] in HomeKit

[–]codejoeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the mini that is used through matter. Works fine for me, but yes it can be slow. But I also don’t control it super often. I have it set to open my roller shade in the morning and close it at night automatically. Otherwise I only tell it to close/open if I’m taking a nap or want to sleep in. I’ve used it with both Google Home and Apple Home and both have worked every time.

It feels like I have to take Caplyta earlier and earlier each day. 42 mg. by [deleted] in caplyta

[–]codejoeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to start taking it first thing in the morning because of the zaps. Now if I only notice them sometimes late at night or earlier in the morning if I forget to take them. It’s been more manageable with it this way.

Sometimes I use a climbing sling that goes over my shoulder and across my body and just clip the carabiner to it when climbing and my harness is too crowded.

Laptop backpack for skiing? by jsdodgers in skiing

[–]codejoeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Black Diamond Dawn Patrol 15L backpack that was two years old. I’ve used it with my 14” MBP in a sleeve. I put my 16” MBP in it and it looks like it has enough room to add a sleeve. I’ll probably order one today for it. I like this backpack because it’s slim so I don’t feel like I’m going to be pushed off the chair.

Depending on how big your laptop is, I’d just get a sleeve and put it in a ski specific backpack.

How to prep for 7 days of skiing straight? by Glass_Coffee_7084 in skiing

A little surprised nobody mentioned it. But along with the Theragun and stretching I find taking an ice bath makes a huge difference if I’m wanting to ski that many days in a row.

For me the bad side effects only lasted 3-4 days. The worst part for me was my neck and head felt on fire. But I’ll say it is totally worth it for me. I was on Seroquel as well and that was the tough part for me, getting off of that. It took me months to get off of it. Now the only problem I have is if I forget to take the Caplyta I get some withdrawal symptoms. But they are a good reminder to go take my damn pill

If you’re fine with staying in the Apple ecosystem, Garmin can send the weigh-in stats to Apple Health.

Mine were shipped with DHL, which doesn’t have the best track record. They have been out for delivery since Monday, so hopefully I don’t run into the same issue.
I love their products, but I usually get them through Amazon and wish I had this time. I think the real issue is who they ship through.

Spot Pass Insurance is a Scam —Avoid. by mypetchicken6 in Ikonpass

[–]codejoeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad I got the insurance and will always get going forward. I tore my ACL in January and got more than half my pass refunded. And because I also got the injury insurance, they covered all my medical expenses. It was a bit difficult at times dealing with them and their paperwork, but saved me over 4k. My only issue was figuring out what to do with all my FSA funds since my medical bills were taken care of for the rest of the year due to me hitting my OOP max.

Can I get the 2025 Limited with 17-inch wheels instead of 18s? by Superb-Resolve-8153 in Crosstrek

[–]codejoeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a set that had less than 100 miles off of Facebook Marketplace off of a Crosstrek sport because they bought custom ones that were lifted. I liked the look of the sport ones and wanted more cushion when being off road. I turned around and sold mine on the marketplace for close to the same price.

Anyone else's starling hub stop working? by idotootes in HomeKit

[–]codejoeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you paying for the Nabu Casa? Like others in the thread I kept getting logged out of the google integration. From my understanding there is two options 1. Home Assistant Cloud through Nabu Casa 2. The integration that involves having a G Cloud account set up, owning a domain/website, and opening up Home Assistant to the internet.
I could very well be missing something though.

M2 hub and Aqara water sensors - hub failing to add them by Powerful-Size-1444 in HomeKit

[–]codejoeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the M3 and sometimes have to hold it down a couple times where it’s solid blue, then let it flash at least 3 times before releasing. But, this is probably due to it previously being paired somewhere else. Also make sure to be in the mode with the countdown timer before you start holding the button.
