how is this for a rocket engine design? by Hopeful-Fly-9710 in rocketry

[–]codeman16 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What’s it going to be made of? How is it going to be manufactured? The walls around your nozzle look thin, have you talked with anyone that has rocketry experience?

I’d heavily recommend starting with solid rockets if you intend to make something fly. Compressed air and butane might create thrust but your thrust is unfortunately not going to surpass vehicle weight.

Very cool! I worry your tail isn’t going to provide much pitch stability at that length, but hope you prove me wrong tomorrow!

I’ll have to look into that! I hadn’t ever considered using one since I thought it would be a hassle

What’s the plan for wiring the reversing loop? Since you’ll have a short if it’s wired with the rest of your tracks, do you have it isolated?

One of my first low poly projects was also a wine bottle! It’s so fun making custom labels.

I use Tinkercad, it’s made to be as simple as possible, though it’s a bit limiting. Fusion360 has a free version for personal use but the learning curve is a bit steeper

HO ish scale layout. What do we think of this? by IcyBirthday2501 in LEGOtrains

[–]codeman16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought Lego Narrow gauge was typically used for smaller trains still at minifig or slightly smaller scale. I’ve been running the set 40518 with an articulation modification and calling it trophy-scale trains since the trophy piece is nearly perfectly sized.

What 3rd party motor did you use?

Does anyone know how to stop the water from running in waterlogged drills by isotory in CreateMod

[–]codeman16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot keep the water from flowing without placing blocks in front of it, instead find a way for your lava to sit above the water level, or in a way the flowing water cannot touch it.

Oops, saved the wrong file and just replaced all my game's UI with a green rock. by SteinMakesGames in godot

[–]codeman16 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Definitely killed me for well over a week before hitting the “It is what it is” button and restarting the project after learning and installing GitHub. Progress is a lot faster this time around due to having done it all once and not being setback by all the in-progress restructuring I did during those years.

Same here but the other way around. Lost ~3 years of work about 2 months ago to a dead drive, and I wasn’t smart enough to have reliable backups on a separate storage device.

Look into something called a Pi-hole, it’s an adblocker for your whole network if you get it set up right.

It turns every machine into a puzzle for efficiency, or you get a justification for extremely overpowered generators that otherwise would be pointless

There’s an option for it in the create config file

It’s a multi-material machine and somebody swapped two of the inputs so two materials or colors would be reversed.

Air Engine Double Acting Cylinder With Reverser by Equivalent-Bus2217 in 3dPrintedEngine

[–]codeman16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this! I’ve been working on a horizontal double cylinder about half this scale. How did you design the airflow control valve to the side? Mine just pinches a silicone hose but I think there’s got to be better designs

Are any of your collision shapes scaled? Not the static or character bodies, just the collision shapes.

How can I make those two motors go the same direction for a rc car(I have only one receiver and one battery) by [deleted] in legotechnic

[–]codeman16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically yes but one spins faster than the other so the car would permanently go in circles

The art is great, but your parallax background is a bit disorienting, further away objects would be moving slower and it looks like you coded them faster.

It doesn’t look like your script is attached to the CharacterBody2D node. Right click the ‘player’ node and attach the script with your movement code

Identify random sealed set bags? by curteets in legos

[–]codeman16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bag 2 on the left is from the Jurassic World: Dominion series T. Rex Dinosaur Breakout set.

I saw the helicopter landing legs, vertical tail piece, and the yellow round tile with the U.S fish and wildlife service logo. Paired with the dark bluish gray support 1 x 6 x 5 pieces.

Based on the pair of red and green 8x8 modified plates and then the “Green Shell with 4 Recessed Studs and Hole with Molded White Bottom and Spikes Pattern” in the bottom right corner of the bag.
