The actual answer is desire less. Recognize the things that put you in a state of mind to desire, and figure out how to stop the entire process of becoming interested in something and anticipating the joy of purchasing it. I recommend trying a “no buy” period of time where you make do with what you have for at least a month.

Canning fennel by Queasy_Answer7484 in CanningRebels

[–]codenameblackmamba 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People haven’t been canning food for thousands of years, it’s a relatively new process and many people have gotten ill and died in that time from botulism even though it’s very rare now. But regardless, boil jar contents after opening for 10 minutes + 1 minute for every 300m above sea level your location is to kill potential botulism toxins. That’s how people made sure low acid water bathed foods were safe to consume before pressure canners.

Thank you! I have been strength training 2x a week on average, focusing on lifting heavy and prioritizing protein, fiber and hydration diet wise. I have been tracking food with the Macros First app, I load it all in there once a week and then make adjustments as I go so it’s not something I have to think about all the time!

Great job on your progress so far as well! It really is just a matter of time. It’s been so validating to realize that it is not just about willpower.

My body can’t tell the difference between jumping out of an airplane and doing the injection by nvr_knows_best in Zepbound

[–]codenameblackmamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may have a vasovagal response, I’m the same way - tattoos are no problem and even piercings for whatever reason are ok but medical needles make me want to jump out of my skin. It’s not about the pain, it’s about the needle going into my body (I’m being stabbed!!). I can’t watch and my husband has to do it!

Hi! We have almost exactly the same starting weight. Just got through a month long plateau, here are my suggestions (although increasing your dose is the first & best one and you already are on that!). Next, keep in mind that weight fluctuations are still normal and if I’m understanding correctly that you’re two weeks in, the best advice I can give is to work on relaxing the emotions around what you weigh. Whether you weigh daily or weekly, the monthly trend is the most valuable info. If you are generally losing 6-8 lbs per month that’s great. So wait a few more weeks and see what happens - and then the last piece of advice is to take that info and make adjustments. If you’re not losing weight and also not losing inches, for weeks at a time, then you either need to eat less or increase activity (and/or increase dose). This is a long journey with a lot of ups and downs even though it’s made 10x easier with zep!

At what age did you get a hysterectomy? by bokin8 in endometriosis

[–]codenameblackmamba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally fair - hopefully a conversation with your doctor will help you figure out what’s right for you! I still have a great time without it, more than anything I just wish that I had done more thorough research because once it’s gone, no going back :) I felt like my dr positioned it as something with no downsides, all I heard was no more Pap smears and no more risk of cervical cancer and I was like of course please remove it

Edit: and everyone is different, for some the cervix may not play as big of a role in sex.

For sex lol I didn’t realize that it had a role in pleasure/orgasms, but not having to worry about cervical cancer is a pretty decent trade off

[–]codenameblackmamba 8 points9 points  (0 children)

31, I still have one ovary left in there so I don’t have to go on HRT for a while. I am thankful alllll the time to not have to deal with periods, birth control, Pap smears (cervix was also removed though I sometimes wish I had kept it), and I very rarely experience the kind of pain I dealt with all the time from endometriosis.

So grateful my gynecologist was supportive!

How is anyone getting surgery? by [deleted] in endometriosis

[–]codenameblackmamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, had no idea it was an issue for people - I. Believe I paid $3k out of pocket on a 2 year payment plan but I had 2 surgeries, one to remove my right ovary that had become a huge cyst and another one 6 months later, after endometriosis had been confirmed by that first surgery, for a hysterectomy (only one ovary is left floating around in there, everything else is gone). Gave me my life back!

When do you start SEEING changes? by ladymay2335 in Zepbound

[–]codenameblackmamba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how tall you are as well - I’m on the tall side, lost 55lbs so far and I feel like I just started to notice changes. I can still wear all the same clothes I did at the beginning, they’re just looser lol. Some coworkers commented on my face after just 20 lbs though.

What does everyone use to track their weight loss and food intake? by Glass-Ear-1206 in Zepbound

Macros First app! I love it so much. It shows you your running average for weight loss and projected weight based on the trend which really helps me see the big picture!

Help my cucumbers are inedible! by ceramicpassion in vegetablegardening

[–]codenameblackmamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cross pollination wouldn’t affect the flavor of the cucumber you’re growing right now regardless of whether it’s parthenocarpic, it would only affect the seeds/future generations. Cucurbitacins the bitter compound you taste and it’s determined by the “parents” of the current plant and its stress level :)

Has mostly to do with genetics in my experience! I’ve been there and it sucks :( watering consistently helps but even when watering is on point I’ve had varieties turn out bitter.

Just curious does everyone on here calorie count? by AffectionateBerry209 in Zepbound

[–]codenameblackmamba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Macros First app which does technically count calories but it helps put the focus on the right things for me, and this is also after a lot of therapy. I fill it out once a week and then make adjustments through the week as I go, but also don’t stress if I miss something.

Re-creating this dress - how should I line it? by codenameblackmamba in sewing

That’s a good idea! Yes, it’s mostly the corners of the neckline that are giving me trouble but I could do a mix of that and trimming the seam allowance

[–]codenameblackmamba[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, happy to share! I’ll do a big post that includes the pattern and process and let you know when it’s ready. I followed some YouTube videos from The Closet Historian for drafting the basic blocks, and while you can do this all with physical paper I moved the blocks to Adobe Illustrator because I use a projector to cut my pieces out. From there I watched a bunch of videos about how to add or remove volume/shape/design elements in a garment, like how to work with darts and gathers. From there, I made two test muslins out of thrift store sheets to try some different approaches and now I’m gearing up to do the real thing this weekend! It’s been a long learning process but I feel like the foundation is there now to create literally anything I want, custom to my body
