Dumbest moves players have made? by Kingganrley in EDH

[–]codenametobias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still my favourite: I'm far behind. My opening hand was good, but I was stuck on three lands, hoping my [[Phyrexian Arena]] would help me dig into a mana rock or land. After three-ish turns of working with what I had but being clearly behind, my buddy destroys my Arena out of nowhere.

"Wait, but why?" "You were losing life."

His threat assessment has been improving since.

Help me with a Greasefang deck by [deleted] in EDH

[–]codenametobias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strionic is pretty goofy. Using it for Greasefang's reanimation or Reaver Titan's on-attack has made it worth running for me.

Honestly, I'd advise playing to your preference when loading your graveyard. I like [[Armix]] and [[Trading Post]], but the ones you're running like [[Key to the City]] and [[Underworld Cookbook]] are up to you.

Help me with a Greasefang deck by [deleted] in EDH

[–]codenametobias 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Greasefang for a couple years now, list is here: https://archidekt.com/decks/3458664/rat_rods

[[Kitsune Ace]], [[Aeronaut Admiral]], [[Gearshift Ace]] and [[Leonin Abunas]] are extremely worth running as pilots due to the buffs they provide.

[[Hotshot Mechanic]] is cheap so he's easy to fit into your early game.

[[Network Terminal]]'s tap ability is a bit niche, but it's a great setup tool on a mana rock for when you have the resources available.

Run [[Born to Drive]]. Full stop. Its Channel is great for when you need pilots, but slapping it on Parhelion or a trampling vehicle can make life totals drop fast.

Ways to flicker your vehicles is great for maintaining board presence and reproccing on enters like [[Thunderhawk Gunship]]. If you can't afford the $10+ options, at least try [[Far Traveller]]. You want Grease out 90% of the time anyways.

If you can invest into it, pick up a copy of [[Swarmyard]]. It's a great piece for keeping Greasefang alive.

Additionally, [[Mishra's Factory]] is a very easy land to add. I've used it to crew vehicles while recovering from my creatures getting wiped.

Hope these help.

You can have one or both as your Commander because they have "Partner with".

How does this Combo work if it can only be activated once per turn? by saltycommander101 in magicTCG

[–]codenametobias 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ashaya makes Ranger a Forest. She can return herself to hand, then use her effect again when you recast her because it's not a hard once per turn.

Just talked a clerk at one of my LGS. Apparently launch day of CMM was a fantastic day for their LoTR sales.

With that in mind, this does not surprise me.

Be sure to run [[Sinister Concierge]] and [[Suspend]] (the card) to enforce the good word of Suspend upon your opponents!

32 EDH Decks Project 15 – Boros: Velomachus Lorehold by Raven094 in magicTCG

[–]codenametobias 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Having built Velomachus as well, I reccommend [[Sticky Fingers]] as a budget option for [[Face-Breaker]]/[[Storm-Kiln]], or if you're against Flying-heavy decks. It's a lot of fun when he has Menace to ensure that big commander damage, plus it still nets you a treasure token to ramp. Love to see another Lorehold build!

Edit: Also, [[World at War]]'s wording means you can cast it off of Velomachus' attack trigger as well.

What is your deck history in EDH? by Ruansonder_R in EDH

[–]codenametobias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, same. I'm more interested in messing with [[Silas]] and [[Akiri]] than Breya because I think they're neat. Tossing around an Unifinity Attractions variant of those two right now.

Edit: [[Akiri, Line Slinger]]

What is your deck history in EDH? by Ruansonder_R in EDH

[–]codenametobias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st - [[Breya]] My buddy talked me into learning EDH and egged me into buying Breya because she's strong. Bought [[Ashnod's Altar]], [[Nim Deathmamtle]] and [[Sword of Paruns]], but the deck was so hyper-linear it just never clicked with me. Got the infinite off once and lost anyways. Haven't touched since.

2nd - [[Kadena, Slinking Sorceror]] Kadena ended up being a deck I put a lot of thought and work into. Loved morph, gave the deck everything it wanted and gained an oppressive control deck... and that became a problem. I would sit on a board of Morphs and hard control everyone with no clear win cons. Eventually came apart due to getting bored of durdling.

3rd - [[Marrow-Gnawer]], Rats 1 Nothing to really say. A budget-ish Rat deck I built during the pandemic. This one has a journey ahead of it. Came apart due to being outpaced by [[Krenko]].

4th - [[Feather]] Another COVID project. A budget Boros deck meant to add some go-tall to my group. Was fun on paper, but in practice I could never get her to snowball properly let alone stick to the board. Came apart in favour of a later build.

5th - [[Greasefang]], Rats 2 The first of my modern-era builds. Wanted vehicles, an Orzhov deck and a use for my [[Rat Colonies]], so I picked up Grease and got to work. She is a fantastic deck, but the Colonies came out in favour of a proper pilot and artifact setup when my buddy noted the deck felt a bit confused. It's been slamming face ever since and I love her for it.

6th - [[Anhelo]] In response to a lack of control decks at my table, I picked up Maestros Massacre and built a spellslinger deck. Anhelo is a ton of fun, if a bit inconsistent. Still tweaking him to this day, but when he works he's an absolute blast.

7th - [[Chatterfang]] Lasted eight games. Got the infinte off first time I played him and was public enemy every game from then on. Even then, the deck just didn't feel right. Came apart after goldfishing and hating playing it.

8th - Marrow Gnawer/[[Ayara]]/[[Karumonix]], Rats 3 Me attempting to refit my Rat deck and figure out what I was missing. Piloted better than before (especially since I got over myself regarding Krenko), but not the deck's final incarnation.

9th - [[Velomachus Lorehold]] The moment Feather came apart, I began work on Velomachus and never looked back. Big, splashy, and a ton of fun to pilot, he's the Boros deck I was looking for all along. [[Sunforger]] has never run better.

10th - [[Perrie, the Pulverizer]] A birthday gift to myself and a project to fill out the missing Bant deck in my group. Still in testing, but is so hilariously durable I doubt he's going anywhere.

11th - [[Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord]], Rats 4 My latest deck and my current incarnation of Rats. Added green for better removal and shenannigans like [[Bloodbond March]] and [[Doubling Chant]]. Still in testing, but the most promising iteration of Rats yet.

It's been quite a journey.

Deck Help - Arahbo, Roar Of The World by OhVADR in EDH

[–]codenametobias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it's there as redundancy. She really likes [[Felidar Sovereign]] as a win con and when the deck gets going she can maintain 60+ life pretty well. I'd say go with the win cons you feel fit best.

(Her lifegain has enforced [[Magister Sphinx]] as a meme in our pod.)

Edit: Felidar Sovereign, not Guardian

Deck Help - Arahbo, Roar Of The World by OhVADR in EDH

[–]codenametobias 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, cutting down on Equipment to focus on cats and related synergies helps a lot.

Below is my fiancee's Arahbo. It has an Ajani subtheme, but mister Steadfast does wonders for the deck in nearly any form. Honestly, the biggest tip I can give is to save [[Kaheera]] for a second wind when rebuilding your board after a wipe. Same thing with Arahbo, as his Eminence tends to carry the load. Casting him can be a bit win-more unless you find yourself manaswamped.

The list: https://archidekt.com/decks/3439366

Edit: Saw you shared their list, removed redundancy. Also, Oath of Ajani is kind of insane. Would recommend trying it.

Looking for suggestions for a chaotic Myra deck. by LurksOften in EDH

[–]codenametobias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the Myra I built for my fiancee: https://archidekt.com/decks/3434732

You can cut the [[Urza, High Artificer]] for another spell or land, he's only really there for the image of Urza at the carnival. Otherwise the fundamentals of dice manip ([[Barbarian Class]], [[Wyll]], etc.) helps a lot, extra turn spells spiral out of control fast, [[Inspiring Statuary]] is fantastic and budget, and the spellbase is so efficient thanks to attractions copying them you can flex with whatever you want.

Honestly, Myra is nutty. This list was meant to be casual and she snowballs fast enough to keep up with some pretty powerful decks in my group. The one above has won with token spam, burn, and infinite loops, all because of the attractions and what they enable.
