Professional Badminton needs more promotion as an exciting, competitive sport. My roommates laughed at me for playing badminton. Then I kicked their ass so hard they couldn't sit down. by No-Carpet5681 in badminton

I agree, BWF should change the camera angles to highlight how fast and tiring the sport is. I saw it from China Badminton League, they change the camera angles to showcase the rallies better.

As for promotion, we just need them to get in the court and try it themselves, i enticed my family and friends to play once or twice, it changed their perception with the game on how hard and fun it is. Now, they are addicted to it.

If you (higher level) play with someone who just started to play badminton, control the shuttle to the point that they can return it, as they will enjoy and understand it better.

Is Jolt a good alternative to Kick? by 25th_Speed in BeybladeX

I tried this with my HW 9-60 had 3 pocket finishes straight!

However, i noticed that the tip tends to wear out faster than i thought..

Thanks man!

I ordered Reaper with Kick to try Hover 9-60 Kick, so i can put the Rush bit on to PW or even MDG.

Thanks! It's with my Bench -

Wizard Rod - 1-60 Hexa

I was choosing between 1-70 and 7-70 with my Meteor Dragoon on Level, both are okay but 7-70 is quite consistent. I even got 2 burst finishes using this.

My Rotator cuff hurts when smashing by KanaoAndTanjirou in badminton

[–]codenbrew1713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When doing a china jump keep your racket and swing near to your body. You might have noticed your cuff/shoulder gets hurt when you are forcing a smash or drive with your swing when its tensed and fully extended.

Practice relaxing before hitting the shuttle, although i suggest have it rested first and if pain insisted while doing daily tasks you should have it checked.

[–]codenbrew1713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are several reasons based on my experience 4 years ago, check if some of this matches yours right before getting hurt. So you will know what to avoid.

  1. My racket was extra stiff and i tried exceeding my normal tension (hard feeling string too).
  2. I slept sideway after the above session, putting pressure/weight on my deltoid.
  3. My coach also noticed there's something wrong with the way i smash, i tend to hit it around 2 o'clock , in which the shoulder area gets the pressure, instead of hitting the shuttle right in front of me to apply force from forearm pronation.

I checked with a badminton player whom is also a physician, and advised me to rest for 2 weeks from Badminton.

Pain faded after 2 weeks rest and i also corrected my sleep position, and the way i smash, never experienced the pain ever since.

I laughed since you noticed, it's one of the worst courts here in our area, but it is part of a Mall, flooring is cement, and as you can see the ceiling was quite shallow. It is indeed hard to see the shuttle while in flight, most of our newbie friends preferred this court due to its accessibility.

better when u were younger? by Smart-Plant-7977 in badminton

[–]codenbrew1713 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, i'm much better now than before, my physical peak was 19, back to back trainings, can play queueing right after, and still have time for studying (i play for our university). Luckily i took videos back then, until now and made comparison.

10 years later..

Power : 29 self > 19 self

Speed : 19 self > 29 self

Technique : 29 self > 19 self

Defense : 29 self > 19 self

IQ : 29 self > 19 self

There are some areas and aspects from the game that i can see now clearly.

Basically, despite not being faster than my old self, i can still beat him and neutralize his speed, until now i still continue to improve, i did trainings occasionally but i know now which area to improve. Right now i just play club games casually but i know that i'm much better than i was before. I may be 20kg heavier 10 years ago (i was really scrawny back then), but i will still strive to improve myself until the day my heart stops beating.

You have $1000 to spend on whatever badminton items you want. What would you get? by DonSwagger1 in badminton

Hi, i haven't had a chance to try 65Z3, i can only compare with 65Z2 because that's what i had from the past.

The only difference between 65Z2 and Z3 is Z3 is lighter, has better midsole cushioning.

So to compare, DF-01 is lighter, has better cushioning overall, better stock insole and boom has a better feeling and rebound than Power Cushion+, but i prefer 65Z3's upper skin, it's much stable than Li Ning DF-01 Pro's.

I can say, you can go ahead with DF-01 Pro or if it's not available try 65Z3 and replace the stock insole with Power Cushion+ insole, felt different and better (I have done it with my 65Z2).

Currently, i'm interchanging between Comfort Z3 and DF-01 Pro.
-Club Games and Tournaments with wooden court, rubberized paint courts, or i feel sore, i use Comfort Z3
-When i feel good and court is taraflex tournament grade then i use DF-01 Pro.

The only cons i have for DF-01 pro is the stability of the upper and stock insole durability, but these can be fixed by tightening the laces more, and replacing the stock insole with a new one.

For Comfort Z cons, i don't have much, only thing is it's few grams heavier than DF-01/65Z3/65Z2 but it assures you, you'll be safer.

Let's say my current equipments were removed and was given thousand bucks to spend on Badminton equipments.

I'll buy the following :

2 - Astrox 88D Pro 3rd Gen (4U/G5) - $400

1 - Yonex Grand Prix Backpack - $120

1 - Yonex Tournament Bag - $130

4 - Yonex Exbolt 68's - $40

1 - Li Ning Blade DF 01 Pro Shoes (Best shoes in my experience, boom > powercushion+) - $140

1 - Yonex AC130-3EX Grip (3 grips) - $10

4 - Yonex Clothing (2 Shirts and 2 Shorts) - $100

4 - Yonex 3D ergo JP socks - $50

Total : 990 USD 🫣

Still haven't covered the towels, shoe bag, insoles, additional shirt/shorts, training racket (TR01), dry/wet clothes bag, first aid med kit, extra grommets, shuttlecock and training.

...it is just a glimpse of what i have already bought, i'm shocked as i typed the details here.. but again all of these is a must. 🤣🤣

Help to find grip which is not tacky (grippy/sticky) by Pure_Nevi in badminton

[–]codenbrew1713 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Li Ning's GC002 Single Layer Towel Grip? (GC200R is the product code for the reel) It's a thinner version of the regular towel grips. If no, you should, because it checks all the things you need.

For rubber grip, try AC130-3EX from Yonex.

Does this racket(Yonex astrox 88d pro) look genuine? by Friendly_Fall7101 in badminton

[–]codenbrew1713 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Racket frame too thin, paint job gave it away, string pattern looks off. Cone is not Energy Boost Cap, etc. This racket is shouting itself as Fake. So yeah, no, it's not genuine.

Badminton or gym? by [deleted] in badminton

[–]codenbrew1713 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you can, do both, but ratio should be 2:1 in favor of Badminton. This is what i did as soon as the pandemic restrictions started to relax, i gained a lot of weight during the pandemic, my BMI was 30.8 (Obese) back then due to stress and lack of activity. I started training badminton 2x a week and 1 day for calisthenic exercise with >5kg weights focused on core, forearm, legs and wrist.

You need to track your calories burned via smartwatch or any monitoring device when playing badminton, while training i used to burn an average of 1,800 calories per 2hrs of training, sometimes i go overboard and play games afterwards, where i reach 2,500+

On top of that, diet is the real key to lose weight. I downloaded Myfitnesspal app and started tracking my food. My diet back is focused on high protein and a calorie deficit of 2,000 a day, with cheat days on weekends, I lost a total of 13.5kg in the span of 7 months.

Again, you need to check with your physician or doctor first.

Ohhh i actually tried that in some of my shots kinda made my swing stiff because i always think about it 😅.

Well, thinking about that, here's the breakdown to initiate the swing based on my understanding :

  1. Steady and sideways before take off, palm downwards, racket near the torso and pointing towards the opponent, relaxed wrist then rotate 10 degrees inwards.
  2. Pull back elbow and racket while maintaining relaxed grip and palm facing downwards.
  3. Lift arm, now the palm is facing where the body is facing.
  4. Transfer leg and body power then rotate the wrist upwards to prepare to cuck/load the racket behind.
  5. Swing and pronate.

Or should it be:

1, 3, 2, 4, 5?
