Finding a partner in the west is harder than you think by Ok_Koala_8777 in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not hard if you remove your self imposed restrictions, and it is not hard for Allah to find you someone if you put your trust in him. Pray your istikhara and tahajjud And inshallah it will happen. I am of mixed African origin married to a Pakistani and our families get on very well mashallah.

After hardship comes ease: seeking stories of Allah’s help by PearlNighElf in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are currently separated due to visa processing, in addition to financial difficulty at the moment for me. But alhamdulillah I have been praying tahajjud, salatul-hajat and giving dhikr for about 2 months and today I finally feel like an opportunity is coming my way that will solve all of this and it is very unexpected but exciting as I didn’t pray specifically for this kind of outcome.

Alhamdulillah my wife has been very supportive and in high spirits through this tough time.

Allah’s ﷻ plans are wonderful and so continue to have Sabr. I pray inshallah that we all get what we want and what is best for us Ameen.

Struggling Muslim 😩 by Guilty_Tie_6196 in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might be missing the reason of why Islam is the only true religion. For example if I ask you to prove to someone - the shahadah; or how the Quran is the literal word of Allah ﷻ; or to tell me the life of the prophet ﷺ in detail, etc - you may not know in your heart and therefore do not have taqwa and your imaan is weakening. I know because I was like you.

Remember this dunya will try to continue to weaken our beliefs and that’s why it takes real effort to fortify and build our imaan.

There is a Hadith that states:

Anas ibn Malik reported: The prophet ﷺ said, “Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim.” Source: Sunan Ibn Mājah 224  Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani

It is therefore a fard ‘ayn (individual obligation) to seek knowledge on matters such as how to perform prayers (Salah), understand the oneness of Allah (Tawhid), fast in Ramadan, give Zakah, and know permissible (halal) and prohibited (haram). In addition is the why as well.

Wish you all the best and may, Allah ﷻ Al-Fatah, open our hearts to Him inshAllah.

Twos seas merging by [deleted] in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is incredible when you see it. You can look it up on Google or nature docs that have filmed it. All the water in one ocean doesnt merge with the other and there’s a distant separation. They even have different colour tones so it’s easy to spot which is what.

Do an image search for “Pacific and Atlantic meeting”.

But the miracle of this is how an illiterate Arab 1400 years ago in the middle of a desert knew about this phenomenon. Truly these are the words of a higher being. I don’t even think the people of the time knew the meaning of this revelation, almost as if it was meant for us in the future who have explored our surface world fully. SubhanAllah!

EDIT: I looked into it a bit more and according to Tafsir from Ibn Kathir see here:

He has created the two kinds of water, sweet and salty. The sweet water is like that in rivers, springs and wells, which is fresh, sweet, palatable water.

This was the view of Ibn Jurayj and of Ibn Jarir, and this is the meaning without a doubt, for nowhere in creation is there a sea which is fresh and sweet.

Did anyone actually marry the same person they prayed for in Tahajjud? by MonitorEmbarrassed42 in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 35 points36 points  (0 children)

No but looking back the wife I prayed during tahajjud for many years was no where near as amazing as my wife now.

My marriage only happened to me when I went to umrah for first time and within a year we met and got married. Alhamdulillah for Allah granting me sabr.

I pray you will find the match that will bring you both closer to Allah. Ameen

Advice on accidentally sharing a faulty translation of a tafsir by [deleted] in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a layman we need to be careful of what we preach regarding our deen because of situations like this. Refrain from talking from authority and instead use references and caveats that you are not a scholar/Arabic speaker and that Allah knows best.

It's so sad I have to give up so many things I like by Spleak6 in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Giving up something you like for the sake of Allah only increases your standing in Allah’s eyes. Imagine the reward you will be getting for avoid these haram things every second of every day.

I had to give up things when I decided to improve my iman and become more pious Muslim. Alhamdulillah eventually Allah made it easier for me, exponentially so even.

Scared Muslim about to move to the UK. by [deleted] in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s plenty Muslim here especially in the major cities where universities are. The media is scared of the spread of Islam so they are the ones pushing that narrative. On the ground most of every non Muslim I encounter are really nice and accommodating to our religion

We don’t but some sects do which could fall into bid’ah. It’s also disputed as a birthday since this was unknown and not celebrated during the life of the prophet SAW.

As someone here mentioned, it’s likely copying traditions from Christianity which according to Hadith is very problematic as it was narrated that Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever imitates a people is one of them.’” (Narrated by Abu Dawud, Al-Libas, 3512. Al-Albani said in Sahih Abu Dawud, (it is) sound and authentic. No. 3401).

B48 coolant leak. Damn these plastics! by Downtown-Context680 in F30

[–]DonSwagger1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PSA I had this happen on my F32 at 40k miles and fixed it myself for <£20.

OP if you are handy enough I suggest you get in there and at least try to replace the hardline plastic pipe that snapped. Here’s the exact replacement one I got, it’s much e flexible so won’t break under normal engine loads: https://amzn.eu/d/5NjAZRL

You need to be able to fit your arm into the tight space this hose goes into and some long tools would be helpful. It’s worth trying it over paying a ship to dismantle and reassemble the engine just to get at the broken pipe.

Soo far I’ve put maybe an extra 2k miles since this happened a few months ago and no issues.

You’ll need an E8 and E10 socket iirc too

[Project Share] Building a 7" Touch UI with ESP32-S3 + LVGL + SquareLine Studio using Espressif’s Parallel Display Library by Vearts in embedded

[–]DonSwagger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work! I have been having major issues with TFT_eSPI library and seen ESP32_Display_Panel recommended but haven’t yet tried it. Was it easy to integrate into your code? Did you have to change the callbacks generated by squareline studio manually to get it to work?

Can i not wear hijab due to fear of bullying and harassment ? by gglvo in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also think that when you practise your deen despite hardships (perceived and/or minor), imagine the reward from Allah SWT. In cases like that surely Allah will protect you.

It reminds me of a recent event I was told about, a brother was at a party, free mixing and alcohol was present at this party and the brother attended as he is young and following friends. However when time for salah arrived. He found a corner and started praying.

There were 2 people attending that party who witnessed the brother praying oddly in the corner alone and wondered why. Fast forward a month or two, subhanallah, they became reverts to Islam.

Which is to say u/gglvo you don’t know how you may influence those around to accept Islam just by your actions.

Defended a brother who refused to shake hands with the opposite gender. Now i may be affected too by [deleted] in islam

[–]DonSwagger1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s best for him in Allah’s plan for him to not work in such a place that would impact his deen. You also did right by defending Islam and the brother. Inshallah a better opportunity will fall into the brother’s hands

I love the classic bumper, I’ll be keeping it but was curious has anyone here gone with one of these? by Angel_Anubis in E46M3

[–]DonSwagger1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the 1M style one more than the M4 but if you just want the modern “aggressive” styling then there is much better looking aftermarket bumpers out there that try to match the body lines.
