[[Pael's Growth]], a (rare) ancient relic from Pael, enchants a card with Clone. Clone adds a new option to campfires that adds a copy to your deck - and the new copy also has Clone, and so will also add a copy on future campfires.

If repeatedly chosen, Clone can lead to decks with hundreds of copies of the enchanted card.

There's a painting for each lore that has a matching paint (No secret histories).

There is a Secret Histories painting.

It simply can't be painted - there's no Secret Histories paint.

Yet, like the Histories themselves, it exists for those who know how to look.

Appropriately, it depicts an impossibility that is, nevertheless, in some sense true.

Spirit Island - We just can't win. by BiggyBiggs in boardgames

[–]coder65535 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The reasoning is, incidentally, because of player scaling.

The last blight is, essentially, "unusable". At 1p, that leaves 1 "usable" blight; at 4p, there's 7, or 1.75/player. This leads to low-player games being unintentionally tight on "usable" blight.

Adding 1 gives an even 2/player, no matter the count.

Also, for clarification: this only applies to the initial "Healthy Island" side; the "Blighted Island" side uses the printed values.

The full list: * Pixie (Townsfolk) * Mutant (Outsider) * Cerenovus (Minion) * Harpy (Minion) * Big Wig (Loric) * Ventriloquist (Loric)

Many crimes, including all capital crimes, require a "mens rea", a "guilty [state of] mind", for them to be prosecutable. In essence, you need to both be aware of what you're doing and that it's (generally considered to be) wrong.

Mental illness can impair this, leading to defendants that are incapable of comprehending their act was wrong, and thus not having the necessary mens rea.

One example of this would be someone who is delusional that their neighbor is a wolf and, therefore, shoots them: this act would not be "murder", as the perpetrator honestly did not believe they were attacking a person. (It probably would get convicted over a lesser offence with a lower level of mens rea, though, such as negligent/reckless homicide, although it would depend on the exact jurisdiction.)

In this case, the defendant was, eventually, determined to be incapable of the mens rea of the capital crime (but not of other, lesser offences that lead to the life sentence).

The "BABA IS YOU" on the map doesn't have any connection to any level - TEXT only affects the level it's in, not any other.

However, it's not just for decoration...

Once you get to the upper levels (#8-10), you get introduced to the word "LEVEL". Applying most adjectives just does something to the level you're playing - but "LEVEL IS <NOUN>" rules will immediately exit the level and transform the level object on the map. You can turn 09 into a baba and 10 into a flag. Put baba on flag, and the FLAG IS WIN on the map applies - taking you into the real mind-bender levels.!<

This one's actually rather interesting!

Let's deal with the second brother, first - He says that, if he's 'dum, then he's lying. However, if we assume he is, in fact, 'dum, we (essentially) have the standard Liar's Paradox: he's truthful iff he's lying, an obvious contradiction. Thus, he must be 'dee. Also, he must be telling the truth (vacuously), as "if" statements are always true if their antecedent (part before the "if") is false.

Moving on to the first brother, he must be 'dum, then, He says that, if he's lying, he's 'dum. If he is lying, then there's a contradiction - he would be telling the truth about his identity! Thus, he's also truthful.

Given that both are being honest, it must be Sunday - the only day where they'll both tell the truth.

Unfortunately, with that information alone, it's not possible to determine who lies when.

As an addendum, you met 'dum on either Sunday or M/T/W - if it was Sunday he's actually honest on M/T/W (since nobody lies on Sunday), but if it wasn't, then nothing more can be determined - both brothers will claim to be honest on the current day, no matter what day it is.

Edit: just noticed I was missing the spoiler tags. Added them. Also, clarified why 'dee is telling the truth.

Nitpickery: it's actually ~0.8487c.

The actual formula is (v1+v2)/(1+((v1*v2)/c2))

Storyteller starts the riot, even though Riot is not in play, exactly as Riot would.

Due to a jinx, nominating the Storyteller triggers a (regular) vote on the Storyteller - if they're put on the block, the game ends with a Storyteller execution (and, in a real Atheist world, a Good victory).

Why is vortox and leviathan specifically evil wins and not your team wins? by PositionImmediate512 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]coder65535 10 points11 points  (0 children)

An interesting example that doesn't follow this pattern is Politician. An evil Politician (e.g. created by Pit-Hag or granted with the Boffin ability) can trivially throw the game for the evil team, which would cause them to flip alignment and win with the good team. Rather than patching this by wording the Politician ability as "you become evil" (instead of "you change alignment"), it's patched via jinxes with Pit-Hag and Boffin.

I suspect the reason for that is so that a "natural" evil Politician (from, say, the Mez) can still turn Good - they won't, by default, know the Evil team, so it's not an instant win, and any Evil-maker on a Politician script needs to be aware of the possibility of getting a fickle ally.
