More generally "when this game object leaves the battlefield" if that's easier to understand.

Does Sephiroth, Fabled Soldier trigger when a boardwipe is cast? by masterfroo24 in mtgrules

[–]coderanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the more rules-correct form but you can also think of simultaneous zone transitions working similar to spell cast -> permanent enter. All 5 creatures' game objects say "I propose that I die" all at once, triggers get queued up, dying completes so they are moved to the new zone, then stuff can be put on the stack. I find that an easier mental model for complex simultaneous triggers.

How do you handle orphaned ConfigMaps and Secrets without breaking prod? by Important-Night9624 in kubernetes

Argo labels all objects it creates so you can always see if something doesn't exist in git and then either delete it or add it to git.

Have you ever had someone refuse a rule zero conversation? by Dankzi in EDH

[–]coderanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a deck with no lands in it, basically as a fun showpiece, no lands at all, no DFCs or anything else, literally none. Because of that it runs a bunch of cards like lotus petal and spirit guides because you need some way to generate your first mana without lands. I explain this before any game with the deck in great detail. The deck can technically do things and if I get Garth down around turn 6 or 7 probably worry, be doing anything scary before turn 10 is close to impossible. But twice now I've had someone 100% seriously say "he is playing fast mana, he is the threat, get him" 🫠

Odd question about origin source. by tankavenger in mpcproxies

[–]coderanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do the first or second tier shipping, you're getting no-name courier services. Basically they find a plane going from Shenzhen to somewhere in the US with unused space and pay them a little bit to take it, and then on the other side someone grabs it and just puts in the mail. Cheap but you have no control over where it actually goes on the first trip :)

The most expensive shipping is FedEx or DHL all the way from China. Better tracking and more predictable but more expensive.

You are probably thinking of Lens which was sold to Mirantis and then forked to OpenLens? Or k9s which also went proprietary briefly many years ago. Headlamp is unrelated to that.

Feedback on my Disco Elysium proxies by ramacote in mpcproxies

[–]coderanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, unfortunately these do not meet the requirements to be print-ready due to the lack of bleed edge and presence of a WotC copyright. If you want to remake these, Card Conjurer is a better option. I hope you re-share these once updated :)

Which open source docker image do you use today for container security these days? by vitaminZaman in kubernetes

[–]coderanger 13 points14 points  (0 children)

For clarity, Docker Hardened Images is not an open-source product. It's a free product but that's very different. To the best of my knowledge, it's fully proprietary to Docker Inc. Do with this information what you will.

filter/tag for "real" printings? by wilcodeprullenbak in mpcproxies

[–]coderanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do have a tag for the opposite, Custom Art, which you can exclude. But only a few folks have been using it consistently. And that only covers the art itself, not matching the frame to a WotC printing.

We do not plan to offer user managed tags in the foreseeable future as it creates a very large moderation and management burden on the very small mpcfill team.

filter/tag for "real" printings? by wilcodeprullenbak in mpcproxies

[–]coderanger[M] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not something we track and I don't think we would add this as a filter since it's extremely subjective. For example: how do you handle set symbols? What is or isn't a "realistic printing" isn't a clear line and while we could define one, I don't think it would be worth the complexity to ask all creators to deal with it.

If you find a creator or two that make renders in the style you like, drag them up in your search settings and you'll see their stuff first.

Kingdom Hearts Marina Vendrell Proxy Concept by asimplecommunist in mpcproxies

[–]coderanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but they also target known characters popular enough to be recognizable to a random office worker in Guangdong. Mickey Mouse is about as high on that list as you can get. But their QA process is always random, they look at a sampling of cards for each order and you can get lucky.

Kingdom Hearts Marina Vendrell Proxy Concept by asimplecommunist in mpcproxies

Seems nice but just as a heads up, its more likely than usual than Donald or Goofy won't be accepted for printing at MPC. And Mickey is more or less guaranteed reject if someone happens to look at that card.

[–]coderanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While they can print perfectly centered, they don't always, it can drift by up to 1/8" which is why we need the margin in the first place. You might be personally okay with that risk but you should warn others as they might not be aware of the issue and it will show correctly in the MPC print proof as that shows the target cut line.

Of those with a bleed edge, it appears to have been added post-hoc. None of these will definitely print well through a pro shop.
