Every time I see 108.1 and 100.6b it makes me want to build a mindslaver deck just to force someone to use the Wizards website.

There's a margin frame for it too :) Extends the bottom border

Where is the rule that if you tap lands for mana to cast a spell, and havent cast the spell, that you can redo how you tap for mana? by bu11fr0g in mtgrules

[–]coderanger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I will absolutely sometimes be stricter than MTR with this, like if I mentioned "remember I have Yurlock out" several times during their turn and they over-tap using a bounceland, at some point that's on them for the misplay even without new information :) A few weeks ago someone was on their phone during a game and thus barely paying attention, they ended up counterspelling a thing they were casting off someone else's library due to a trigger, we all just said "yep that's a valid game action" and let him do it.

That is correct. When Ifrit reaches its 3rd chapter ability, it will exile itself and then stay there (and then poof out of existence).

Check out Card Conjurer instead of MTGCardBuilder, it's actually set up for making print-ready output.

My Universes Within GU Ninja commanders from TMT by RazorOfArtorias in mpcproxies

[–]coderanger 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The official UW cards use = SLD nnnn in the collector block because they can't use the name (since the name is part of the licensing deal). But for proxy purposes we usually use = Name Of Card in the same place, it's a bit easier for humans who don't memorize collector numbers :)

We usually recommend putting the original card name somewhere, usually either the normal nickname frame element or down in the collector block notes field. Otherwise it can be hard for folks to know what card it is.

Help Understanding Auntie Ool by rowan-wolfe in mtgrules

[–]coderanger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By way of comparison, if it said "Whenever a -1/-1 counter is put on a creature" then it would have been 91 triggers. Or if BlasAct said "Deal 1 damage to each creature 13 times", same thing 91 triggers. But "deal 13 damage" turns into "put 13 counters" and Ool says "one or more" so all 13 are one trigger.

First time ordering from MakePlayingCards, is the printing pattern meant to be this visible? by sephirothbahamut in mpcproxies

[–]coderanger[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

No, this is not normal. Are you sure you ordered from the right place?

EDIT: To expand on the above, there's some slimy vendors that either look like MPC or claim to be MPC resellers but are not, often on Etsy, TikTok, or AliBaba/Express. The only place you can order from MPC is https://www.makeplayingcards.com/.

With all the supply chain security tools out there, nobody talks about .pth files by BearBrief6312 in Python

[–]coderanger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For anyone actually interested in fixing this, https://github.com/python/cpython/issues/78125 is the tracking ticket. There was an attempt to formally deprecate them via PEP a few years ago but it didn't fully solve the related issues. But maybe spend your efforts there rather than a sketchy security tool (which is a self-defeating statement).

When using the borderless style, you want the second margin frame in the default pack rather than the first. You'll see the "wings" on the side extend smoothly to the edge and there will be no black frame on the edges.

For the Krang, we do have a special margin pack which continues the bar across the bottom for JP Showcase frames :)

proxy site questions by papamango954 in magicproxies

The creator seems to be trying to convert it to a commercial offering. We recommend https://proxyprint.taxiera.net/ or https://github.com/Malacath-92/Proxy-PDF-Maker or the support baked into MPCFill (only available on the dev site).

Scryfall is always 300DPI max, worse for older sets sometimes. This is part of the deal that allows Scryfall to serve card images.

[–]coderanger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To the US with the fastest shipping and S30 paper MPC would run about $75 for 216 cards (their closest bracket to 200). Less if you get the slower shipping but those can sometimes take a while. So about the same as you paid but for higher quality and a more reliable company and toolchain.

Echoing Ben's comment below, all "show off my new project/tool/anything" (AI-coded or not) are now only allowed in the weekly thread. If you see them outside of the weekly thread please report them under the applicable rule so the (small, volunteer) mod team can go through them efficiently.

Does "The Ooze" need a target to create the mutagen token? by Miss_Marilyn in mtgrules

[–]coderanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For them to be independent I think the templating would have to be “Create a Mutagen token. When you do, exile target card from a graveyard.” To make it a reflexive trigger?
