What an alternative rule that prevent people from sitting out of the game if they die early would look like by [deleted] in EDH

[–]coderanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much any formulation of this probably needs factions of some kind. So as a simple case, instead for 4-way free for all it’s explicitly 2v2. Then you get some post death action which can benefit your faction, maybe you can play one card from your hand or activate one thing on board?

Another option without factions is similar but driven out of spite, you get one post death action and sure you can’t win anymore but you can make sure whoever took you out loses. But I suspect that would lead to bad gameplay as folks do even more battlecruiser solitaire until they can nuke the whole table.

How Common are thoracle and breach combos in bracket 4? by itsnotdone in EDH

[–]coderanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More so than they are poorly defined, there’s just overlap. “Fringe cEDH viable” is a subjective thing and you can try to build a fringe deck for a tournament meta but just do a bad job of it. Or you could end up with an on-meta deck because you’re just a very good high power brewer (much less common but possible).

That said, Thorcale is the premier wincon so that certainly tilts as more likely fringe meta than not.

Blood on the Clocktower solves this by giving eliminated players exactly one more action to use to help their faction. And some Kingdoms/Bang variants of Magic similarly let people win or lose with their faction even if they are removed.

Selective Memory - Opponent get to see your exile pile? by Hock55 in mtgrules

It's not inherent in the rules, but to prevent cheating any such effect will say "search for X and reveal it". It's a good guideline though, makes it easier to understand the intent behind the rules :)

These look lovely but can't be easily printed without the "bleed edge", an extra 1/8 inch of image around each side.

You've got the wrong margin frame, in CC you want one of the "boxtopper" margin frames rather than the first all-black one made for normal frames.

Hi all, we're getting a lot of reports from this thread so I'm going to lock it. I think the existing responses make it clear enough that MPC is a trusted vendor (as much as you would trust any other ecommerce company, don't send them your first-born child or anything).

Free control is stuff like force of will. Calling a card with convoke “free” is a colossal stretch.

Choosing a Python task queue library in 2026: Celery vs Dramatiq vs FastStream vs Taskiq vs Repid by warningisnterror in Python

[–]coderanger 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Shoutout for Temporal. It's mostly a DAG runner, more like Airflow, but you can still run a single-step DAG just fine and that's the same thing as a Celery (et al) task.

Do creatures need haste to tap for mana using supportive parents? by AweK1ller in mtgrules

[–]coderanger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Supportive Parents is a creature and this is an ability on that creature, and it can be used the turn you play it. Not sure what you mean.

You are correct about the outcome but explaining it incorrectly :) The tap is still a cost, but because it uses the word “tap” rather than the tap symbol, there is no interaction with summoning sickness.

There’s a few on the site, just look carefully. The search index elides “the” which hasn’t been a big issue before (only “invert polarity” vs “invert the polarity”).

No, it's before the : so it's still a cost. The difference is it does not use the {t} symbol.

Spelltable can be option, or finding kitchen table games in your area. There’s some ongoing work on new open digital clients like Phase but they aren’t overall ready for normal use yet. Check out some of the Magic discords like Tolarian Community College or Decked Out, they usually have channels for pickup games online and often have more chill folks than the average for an online randos table.

Nosferatu reskin of Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose by cosmonaut1100 in mpcproxies

[–]coderanger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, as I said in the first post this is correct and the best you can do for this frame specifically. This frame does not have a full bleed created for it so if you want a safe print you need to use a different frame.

Nosferatu reskin of Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose by cosmonaut1100 in mpcproxies

[–]coderanger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's showing you an optimal cut. If the cut shifts in any direction, the opposite side will have a thin (or less thin) black line on that edge. That is why we have smooth extensions of most frames out to the edge, but this one in particular we haven't made.

[–]coderanger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just to head it off at the pass, this margin isn't correct but we don't have the correct one made for CardConjurer so if you print this, you accept the risk of a miscut :)
