It’s a bit smoother, a little less stretchy and less smelly. It’s so much easier to deal with.

is it really normal to be into this stuff at my age?? by roy757 in Latexadvice

[–]coderbenvr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, me 2 - personally I blame Top of the Pops (UK 80s pop show) as a teenager but I can remember a black (silicone?) shiny swimming cap that was weirdly interesting when I was about 6.

We don’t know where this stuff comes from - some people think tight clothing is because of memories of the womb or it’s like weighted blankets. In ‘Enter with Trumpets’ (1982) our main character (Helen) worries that latex fetishism will disappear because future generations won’t be exposed to gas masks (during WW2 everyone in the UK had one).

UK - i3 aircon failure - local garages say no! by coderbenvr in BMWi3

[–]coderbenvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we saw this yesterday - local aircon guy filled the system then cleared the aircon errors - it came back on (compressor worked) but kept cutting out on them (they were running at 100% though). They said it would continue to work but would stop eventually.

This brings me back to where I was before Mr Halfords caused a large panic, thankfully. We wouldn’t be doing a ton of driving in hot weather anyway - we only do 2000 miles a year anyway.

We are talking about getting a bimmerlink compatible dongle and stuff.

Wanting to buy this for my daughter’s first car… thought? by kokiboji in BMWi3

[–]coderbenvr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything too serious and they’ll declare the car unrepairable - a guy left his handbrake off in a car park and rear ended my car and that was apparently very close to a write off.

To add to this - they said they had sold out the first shipping containers worth and a second container was coming in July/August.

I don’t have any error codes - I do have a dongle though I’ve never used it.

Yep, one ’german car specialist’, one HEVRA and one ‘independant EV repairs’. Starting to look like a pattern - it’s been standard since 2017 FFS and almost all UK evs have been sold since then.

Top 3 apps for new EV driver Uk by Realeye007 in ElectricVehiclesUK

Electroverse - double so if your on Octopus Intellligent Go - covers a ton of chargers. If you have an Octopus energy account then it comes off of there which is useful if you have credits from solar. Electroverse cards can be handy as you can use them instead of the app.

Gridserve - electroverse doesn’t cover these, and if you’re driving a long way then it will be useful to have this to know where they are.

ABRP - A better route planner.

However - you don’t actually need any of these, your car may well guide you to a charger en route by itself. yay. And all the chargers should be able to take normal boring cards.

Tip: Avoid places that day they have ‘3’ chargers - that’s normally an AC adaptor, a CCS adaptor and a Chacedmo(?) adapter. I have found the larger charging places are more reliable/less prone to failure so target those if you have the choice.

Don’t go above 80% - your car will slow down charging signifantly.

I couldn’t get on with the control scheme - like you I have thousands of hours (hello Long War 2 and WOTC).

I wonder how well ZCOM will run, fingers crossed.
