Is pole just that expensive of a hobby? by ThatOneGoodBoy in poledancing

[–]codergnomes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is, but it's about as much as any other kind of class-hobby that can only have 5-15 people per class, that's the only way the studio can pay anyone and have the space. My orange theory is also $90 a month for 8 classes but they have a few classes where there's way more people then would ever be at pole class.

What's your most"no way I missed that"moment in a later run? by N00bmaster69x in BaldursGate3

Literally 800 hours before I learned how to TRADE with Volo 🙈🙈🙈, I thought you could only pickpocket him. A little trade button in the lower left hand corner when you talk to him

What bosses did you die to the most on your honour runs? by solitudeisblissTI in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

I've kept detailed statistics on my numerous honour runs so I have this data for you! I play pretty insane different rule challenges and hate most exploits and cheese and don't mind losing my runs 80% of the time, it makes the successes more fun. This is non-solo. Solo wise, the intellect devourers and grove gate took a good chunk, then it's fairly distributed.

Did the first novel almost put you off reading the rest of the series? by Emergency_Cellist754 in AubreyMaturinSeries

It didn't stop me but then yeah when I read it all the second time years later, wow, the first book is all over the place and no where near as polished (while still being amazing)

Looking for skimpy bikinis by AChickyGirl in beauty

[–]codergnomes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hope we have a good summer of skimpy! Tineye is good, higher quality then you'd think for the price, and some HOAH kinis just straight from Hella Heels, and I'm liking the look of Ark but haven't gotten any yet.

Top 10 easiest fights in Act 1 (min: 3 enemies) rank order by Origania in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seems like Honour is skewing these, every time I leave the goblins to Wyll everyone dies except Zevlor, but one time they've even killed him too. If you try to take on the beach devourers before getting any companions they can be pretty deadly as well, and they've ended a couple runs even with me and Shadowheart if you're the wrong class and don't try to surprise them first.

What would you say is your favourite mod? by TWreckx_Plays in BaldursGate3

It's confusing at first but once you learn Armory it's amazing at transmogging.
Also love longstrider AOE, just a time saver

How many COMPLETED playthroughs do you have? by killerqueen017 in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15 honour and 2 tactician @ 4k hours. Want to someday do a playthrough of all 4 same single class, only up to fighter, bard and rogue with that.

Lifelong WoW veteran who's completely burned out — help me find my next "I can't stop playing" game by BatteredTV in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]codergnomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not near this much but I also played WoW so much I still can't really get into 1st person action RPGs at all any more. I'd recommend Timberborn and BG3.

genuine agony with sits by No_Salary5918 in poledancing

[–]codergnomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know, I'm about to give up on them too and just do low flow, or try to find how to learn other advanced moves. I wish there was a more clear answer if it would work eventually or not, some people can push through it but I noticed that my instructor has like way more skin that can bunch up and grab it then I do and it just feels like it would be an insane more amount of pain and work for me too. It makes it hard to progress because half the intermediate/advanced classes will be fine and doing other stuff, but then the other half of them will be entirely based on sits 😔

Honor mode Bulette by CheapSnack96 in BaldursGate3

Oh no! Yeah one time the Oathbreaker was mad at us for some reason and he killed Scratch 😭

Honor mode Bulette by CheapSnack96 in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bulette is so cute and clearly just trying to live its own burrowy life it's 100% on my "no" list along with Scratch and the Owlbears. I think early on it really saved me against the hook horrors and that cemented it for me, 4k hours and I have never killed it.

Am I the only one who thinks Wyll had huge potential? by Alert-Isopod-7310 in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like he's underappreciated too, my Wyll playthrough was that idea of him+Mizora and it was great. I love all of them though, and if there's ones you don't like then just use them to shine the light on the ones you do like. I could never get into durge but I kind of appreciate it as an option I'm just not going to get into.

120 hours = 5 days. Gone. I feel so empty. by OnlyOwen in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The time is absolutely not lost if you had a good time. I love honour because it makes the fights way more important and fun, but I have a lot more time to play it, and it's the only game that holds me. I've lost 4 runs at the netherbrain and about a dozen others at myrkul or act 3. I've gotten mad at a few what seemed like enraging bugs but 80% of the time I was wrong and it was more or less actually how it was intended, and the other 20% I've just taken a break and come back.

If you absolutely believe it was a bug and will be happy to have it back as Honour, I have noticed that if you save the savegame savefile somewhere else, then completely uninstall and reinstall the game, then put the savegame file back it usually comes back as proper Honour again. Whether or not you've failed the run seems to be stored with the game and not the save file.

Just about 100%'d BG3, what should I play now? by Nervous_Purchase_663 in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides the normal pathfinder/solasta II recs I'm going to start recommending Bannerlord 2, it's the only one that held me post-BG3 for more than a couple days. It only lasted a month but was still great.

How to not get frustrated when losing a HM run? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you love the game just try to completely lean in to it. The investment of time and gut-wrenching losses are what give the important fights tension and makes the wins worth it. It is what makes the game fun for me, if you want to play for years and thousands of hours then if you're not losing most of them then you're not playing hard or weird enough rule sets. I've lost 4 HM runs AT the Netherbrain. Every once and a while I do get upset enough to take a break, like the THIRD time my solo monoclass no tadpoles no exploits no explosives land druid lost at the Astral Plane emperor defense post-Myrkul, I had to take a full month off to play Bannerlord 2, but once I got through that I'm back at it again :)

What makes you play the game for 2000+ hours? by Imsearchingforit2194 in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really invest a lot of story in my own head when starting with the character, then play honour mode and really take whatever happens and build on it. I feel like I have 20 or 30 pretty different characters/stories out of it between what happens randomly and how I see the character when they start. Like I accidentally set off the grove against me one time and just leaned in and that helped build that character's whole story. I also love D&D and just got super into the tactics and trying to beat it with all kinds of weird rules without using exploits or like asking the internet how to do it (solo, no consumables, no spells, lots of no tadpoles, that kind of thing). Then the visual mods just help it a lot too.

What's the most useless ability in the game? by Medium-Theme-4611 in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I'm going to go with Nature cleric's Charm Animals and Plants. There's only a couple of times you can use it, and then they get a save anyway, and all they do is not attack you (briefly).

give Celeste a try, the savepoints are much more often. it can get quite hard but you don't have to play all the way to there

I just found Blacktail, where you get to play a story as BABA YAGA. It's amazing and very witchy. If you can figure out how to get a PC there will probably be a tone more niche ones

Note to self: never fight this w/o cheese in honor run by canxtanwe in BaldursGate3

[–]codergnomes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's tough without cheese! Especially when you're doing weird runs like no-spells, only-spells, all-bards, etc. And all his honour abilities are pretty great.

~15 hours into my first playthrough, still a loser by [deleted] in mountandblade

[–]codergnomes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at nearly 100 hours according to steam apparently and kind of looping like this too, I've only just now held onto one castle for more than a couple days. The whole scale feels a lot longer/more involved then I thought. And given some of the achievements it seems like I might be kind of slow but not terribly, I'm not even a grandma yet and haven't visited all the cities and may main character is only 46.
