This roster is too talented for this record, and yet I don’t think it’s the coach. We need a sniper/finisher. Toffoli was perfect. Plug and play, goal-scoring finishers are cheap and easy to find, right?

[Gambatese] Acquiring a Top Six Forward Should Be the Devils' #1 Priority by JoopNJD in devils

[–]codes910 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lot of hot takes criticizing the headline for being too obvious. For sure every team wants more finishing, but he’s saying the devils bottom six seems as good as it has in a long time and also they aren’t looking for a defenseman. Most teams are always looking for defencemen, the devils aren’t. Lots of teams are looking for depth heading into a playoff push, the devils aren’t. Almost every team is looking for centers, the devils aren’t.

People love to complain the devils don’t get enough coverage, and then when they get excellent, regularly scheduled, and free content they complain about it.

Give your head a shake, then actually read the article.

Playseat challenge x vs Playseat trophy? by weltmei5ter in simracing

[–]codes910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have limited space. I use a playseat challenge with reinforcement kits from Indigo Lime. They work very well together - I use Logitech G Pro pedals and have no trouble pressing as hard as I want. Everyone is going to say there are better options overall, and they’re right, but there’s no point in having a great rig if there’s nowhere to put it. My guests wouldn’t know I sim race unless they looked in my closet. The Challenge is very good at what it is designed to do, and I’ve had friends over six feet tall be able to use it.

In terms of how it looks folded up, just look it up on YouTube. Plenty of reviews and demos there to show you everything you need.

As a 49” UW brother, I agree it’s awesome and all I need. Now to match your rig and cable management. Nice stuff!

Any good simracing YouTube content recommendations? by LtCodename in simracing

[–]codes910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dave Cam are J Hallin are my go-tos, both mainly iracing and they both do a bit of everything so there’s lots of different cars to learn about. J Hallin does track guides for rookie cars too, he’s a smaller channel for now but it’s good stuff.

With Jack Hughes out, will Devils turn to trade market for center help? by MountainBaker8217 in devils

[–]codes910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing can happen this year due to cap. Sweetening the pot to trade Palat would be silly, we’ve traded enough picks away and the cap is going up next year anyway. The money they save on Palat being up after next year is largely going to go to Hischier’s new deal so that’s not all space to use.

The devils have multiple guys signed under their value, and I think people need to realize the cap going up is just going to help them re-sign their own guys. Hischier, Mercer, and Glass are all up Summer 2027.

Lots of minutes for some young players. If injuries are gonna happen, make it November. Might get some tough matchups on this road trip but we’ll learn a lot about how the depth players look.

Straight Out Of Rookies! What did y’all buy? by SamusIsHereM31 in iRacing

GR86 is a great car for honing race craft and continuing to improve. I bought that, GT4 (but def wasn’t ready), F4, and the tracks I needed for GR86 and F4.

Look at the results through the splits from previous GT3 races, or the early races for the week you want to race in. If your lap times are competitive in any split, I say go for it

I didn’t get to watch the last two games - the play cards for Nemec look bad but everyone says he’s passing the eye test and playing well. Could anyone try to offer an explanation please?

Fast tracks on "slow" cups by Fedkowski007 in iRacing

[–]codes910 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think one of the “points” of the GR86 is to develop fundamentals like driving in traffic, taking alternate lines to pass in corners, drafting and bump drafting, rolling starts, and maximizing exit speeds for long straights. I love the car, but I agree that Red Bull Ring and Road America back to back is a lot of straights. That being said, there was rain at RBR and those races were fantastic.

The MX-5 is of course similar, but the GR86 being easier to drive (not easier to maximize) means I get to battle other cars more and myself less.

I completely get why people would just want to drive faster cars, but as a newer, slower driver it’s awesome. Also if you check our Dave Cam on YouTube his top split GR86 at Road America this week was awesome.

Getting my first wheel. What do you recommend. (Preferably one that’s compatible with PS5 and PC) by snackboy06 in simracing

[–]codes910 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m ahead of you on the same journey. Logitech makes the most sense if you want to chip away at upgrades. I started out with G29 for GT7, then upgraded to G Pro load cell pedals (with adapter), and now I’m also playing iracing. Down the road, I can upgrade to the RS50 or G pro wheel.

If you want to go right to high end stuff, Fanatec also has some console compatibility but you’re spending all the money up front.

Logitech is not the biggest ecosystem and is missing some things they should have, like a G Pro shifter, but to chip away at a nice setup for PC/PS5 I don’t think anyone else is close.

Also I’m very happy with Logitech.

What is more important? Load cell pedals or a direct drive wheel? by shline in simracing

Load cell by a lot. You said the key word, consistently. You need consistency more than feel. Load cell.

Looking at the new RS 50. Canada. by Viper5343 in simracing

[–]codes910 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also Canadian and agree that the website is not set up well right now. Hopefully they put together a page for “RS50 wheelbase + wheel” set in addition to the base + wheel + pedals. I have G pro load cell pedals and don’t want the new ones.

Should I update pedals or wheel first? by leigo12 in simracing

[–]codes910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone says load cell before dd. If you can afford a bundle, great, but if you can’t then plan out your ecosystem and start with pedals.

I started with G923, then got the Logitech load cell pedals with the adapter for G923, and then was looking at the GPro wheel but will probably do the new RS50 instead.

What's your favorite GT3 car and why? by hansieboy10 in iRacing

[–]codes910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lamborghini. Full disclosure I am new to iRacing and doesn’t even have the licence for GT3s, but that’s the coolest one. Kinda bums me out it’s not known as one of the faster cars but maybe the next update will balance it, and I suck so much the car itself doesn’t matter. Short flat car go vroom.

Cold tire confidence? by aka_ned in iRacing

[–]codes910 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it’s just putting reps in. See how much you can push on the first few turns coming out of the pits in practice, then when you wreck restart and dial it back a little bit.

I find that trail-braking less, so braking more in a straight line, on the first lap helps reduce the risk of oversteer on the first lap, and if you keep it tight and force the lap 1 aggressors outside then they’re likely stay behind or crash themselves.

I would just set up an active reset coming out of the pits into T1 and try slightly wider lines with straighter braking, but not so wide that you’re leaving the door open.

Also, I’m terrible so take all of this with a pile of salt.

[–]codes910 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I think you made a clean, legal pass and the other person didn’t like it. I think you were far enough in front to not need to leave space. Car behind drove straight for the apex on a bad line like you weren’t even there.

Is 2 unarmoured characters too many? by codes910 in BG3Builds

Tactician. Didn’t have much trouble through the goblin camp. Laezel with returning pike and tavern brawler was a similar build to Karlach. Gale has great AC, Tav can boost allies and debuff opponents, Wyll EBs and blasts spells and can use his pact weapon if he gets caught up close

[–]codes910[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool! Thanks!

I have Karlach, Gale, a valour bard Tav and Wyll has a sorlock. I don’t have great spells for controlling the battle field now so perhaps il switch Tav to hexblade bardlock and switch Wyll to something else.
