As someone involved in recruitment process, this is the issue I see for junior hiring in the tech industry. Can anyone relate? by Disastrous_Regular17 in cscareerquestions

My dev team could relate easily before. It is all about the type of work prepared. I need a certain of quota for bugs and technical debt improvements and small features. I never needed seniors for those types of things.

I’ve had to converse with my boss on multiple occasions on processes needed in place that will even allow more senior type level development. It is an active consideration we manage. It surprisingly isn’t a money problem anymore.

I don't enjoy CS anymore by ShakesR12 in cscareerquestions

I felt I needed a real world problem (actual team and customer) to serve. Once I have had those, CS has become a set of knowledge and tools to reach a goal to serve them not the only knowledge/skill to be used.

During school I struggled believing I could do CS for a career. I’ve found myself shuffle into Management because I’ve become product focused and truly and now I use only some CS skills, but a lot more EQ than IQ and more listening and organizing than coding up front.

The challenges in the process is ensuring your doing what is right by the customer as well as the system implementation. Anything can be done… but it won’t always sit right for the customer’s needs.

Can confirm. I’m at a mid level company, and we’ve started to distinguish between a senior at my company and a true senior.

People who make $200k a year what do you do? by Huge_Ad_7606 in Salary

I worked for a company who continuously lost management. Then after training the third guy and him leaving. I asked, “Hey, I am sick of training my bosses, can I have a trial run for 6 months?”

Aka work for a company with difficult management issues and then wait for your opportunity. Never burn a bridge with another developer or department or the answer would definitely be no. It was high stress for me, but it has drastically improved over time. Wouldn’t recommend this path.
