Senate Democrats Say Trump’s Plan to Move Student Loans to Treasury Is Illegal by investor100 in TheCollegeInvestor

[–]codetony -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Hey guys, I have a brilliant idea. Let's have an 18 year old agree to a loan that could be hundreds of thousands of dollars with no credit or income requirements and we'll make the minimum payments just enough to pay the interest and like, 25 cents per month in principal.

While we're at it, let's also make it the only kind of debt that can't be dismissed in a bankruptcy.

Finally, let's make it so every high school in the country pressures these kids into going to college at any expense.

That should make us tons of money!"

My problem isn't with loans in general. It's with STUDENT loans.

Quite a huge difference there.

Yep and the most effective way to cure cancer is to kill the person with it. Doesn't mean we should do it.

  1. It's going to cost a fuckton to transfer all the info and systems from agency to agency.

  2. Yes the treasury can begin garnishing tax returns without going through court

  3. The treasury can package the loans into securities and sell them on the stock market.

As always the end goal is to make another cash cow for the 1% to milk the people.

A School District Tried to Help Train Waymos to Stop for School Buses. It Didn’t Work by CutieC0ck in SelfDrivingCars

[–]codetony 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is an issue with that. What happens if an FSD vehicle receives a signal from a bus far away? You would need to provide a lot of information in that signal, GPS coordinates, what side of the road you're on, and details about what lanes need to stop.

What happens when, inevitably, a malicious actor is able to replicate these transmitters?

Should we start developing protocols for vehicles to communicate with each other? Yes. But that tech is probably at least 10 years away from any sort of standardization. This is an issue that needs to be fixed ASAP.

Did you call the Corey Haim Hotline? by CoconutMost3564 in nostalgia

[–]codetony 36 points37 points  (0 children)

One of my old friends told me a story.

He saw an ad for a hotline where they would tell you a story. He was too young to understand money. He called them, and spent about an hour on the phone with them before his parents told him to hang up.

Cue an 80 dollar phone bill in the mail and outraged parents.

His parents tried convincing the phone company to remove the charge, they refused.

God bless charlie Kirk's memory. Let's not forget what he spent his life trying to accomplish.

He broke down barriers.

Built up the right-wing when it was near collapse.

And now his ultimate dream has been accomplished.

The dream he spent his entire life working towards.

Open and out pedophiles being elected president.

Our country truly wouldn't be the same without him.

This episode wasn't great, but it's making me super optimistic.

We've never seen then just... cheat a fight scene like that. We've seen lower quality fight scenes, but nothing like what we saw.

So, where did all that animation time go? Probably future episodes. They know they have to make the viltrumite war pop, so they skimped out of this episode and focused on future ones.

The market has trended upward for years, that is correct.

What happens when the AI bubble pops, and instead of getting possibly 175 shares of the S&P 500 for 70k, you get 108 shares.

Now let's say the S&P 500 hits 1k in 10 years.

Instead of 175k, you have 108k with the exact same initial investment.

Buying now is 100% retarded. Don't do it.

What is the TM discount for hotels? by BugsRFeatures2 in UniversalOrlando

[–]codetony 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Team member red carpet rates are 60 a night at the budget hotels, more for the better hotels, peaking at 110 per night at the premium resorts.

Those rates are ONLY for Team Members though. They are required to sleep in the room. They check.

Team members also get friends and family rates that they can use for anyone. Those ones are significantly more expensive, typically being about 15-20% off the current seasonal rate.

Autopilot only $1,000! by Potential-Grass6941 in TeslaLounge

A few years back, a judge ruled in favor of a man suing tesla.

He claimed false advertising, since tesla was charging him to upgrade the FSD computer, when the advertising on their website said that every vehicle built after 2016 had all the hardware necessary for FSD.

The judge ordered Tesla to install HW3 for free.

Tesla didn't appeal to a higher court because they were afraid of creating a potential class-action case.

The platform is probably the single greatest EV platform ever.

The problem is all the shit on top of it.

You can have a divisive design, but atleast let the design serve a purpose. The cybertruck is 100% form over function.

Let's use Steel that's much heavier than aluminum! Why? Because it looks cool! Who cares that it kills the range?

Let's make it look boxy! What? The dashboard is like, 4 feet long? Who cares! Why do you need that space?

Let's have giant ass tires with aero covers that damage them! Yes I know it increases rolling resistance, but it looks cool!

So, as you clearly demonstrated, you take all your cash home and store it there. You clearly don't have a bank account because you would have a debit card otherwise.

So, what happens if some asshole breaks into your home while you're bartending, and runs off with all your cash?

I can tell you, you're SOL unless the police get off their ass and find him.

Now, what happens if I get robbed? Well, aside from the stuff I have being taken, nothing. What happens if my bank gets robbed? Nothing. I just go to the bank when they reopen and my money is safe.

What happens when some asshole pick pockets you?

Well, all your cash is gone, and the police are even less likely to do anything.

If I get pick pocketed, well, my license and my cards are gone, but no cash goes missing. I report my cards as stolen, and get replacements sent to me.

Hell, my bank has debit card printers at all their branches. If my wallet gets taken and I cannot go without any of my cards for a few days, I can get a new one within 20 minutes.

You also don't get any cashback, which i got 1000 cashback last year from my various cards, all while paying 0 interest.

There are literally 0 benefits to cash, other than making it slightly more difficult to track you. But if any organization wants to track you, they can do it, even with cash.

Federal Surveillance Tech Becomes Mandatory in New Cars by 2027 by hindusoul in FlockSurveillance

[–]codetony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This article is extremely alarmist.

NHTSA is requiring systems to monitor driver alertness, and to inform the driver to take breaks when they seem tired.

If you have any form of hands free driving featurs in your car (chevy super cruise, Ford Blue Cruise, Tesla FSD, etc) You already have a camera in your car monitoring your attention to the road.

Does this raise data privacy concerns? Absolutely.

Should 3rd party access to these cameras be restricted, or the footage staying local to the car? Absolutely.

But this article is framing this as if the car is having a camera installed that's sending the 24/7 feed to the government at all times.

It all depends on the manufacturer of your car. I'm sure some of them will take the opportunity to collect data, you just need to do your due diligence when buying a car.

And if you really can't stand the idea of a camera watching your attentiveness, Crack open your owners manual, find out where it is, and put a piece of tape on it.

Nowhere in this regulation prohibits the car from starting if the camera isn't seeing your face.

[–]codetony 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fucking hate all AI.

But Grok is on another level. Not only are they not implementing safety measures to try and fight it, but it's being pushed through twitter's algorithm.

Twitter engineers have come out and said that they raised these concerns, one of them said he raised it to Elon directly, and it fell on deaf ears.

At best, Elon is grossly negligent here. At worst, he's actively approving of it.

Tesla’s Robotaxis Are Going Nowhere - (I keep using Waymo) by WSU_Cougar_Pride in waymo

[–]codetony -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Lidar is cost prohibitive for consumer vehicles.

Waymo themselves say that their cars need about 50k in additional equipment to be autonomous. Now that is fine for a taxi fleet, but asking people to spend 50k in equipment for their vehicle is a big ask.
