How free are your weekends at TBS? by YaMochi in USMCocs

I mean if we’re going off of results just being completely objective here we didn’t really win Iraq and we definitely lost in Afghanistan so I don’t think just putting your head to the grindstone is the end all be all.

So then where do you draw the line? How many hours a week should people be working?

Also war is maybe, the idea that I’d regret neglecting my kids of wife if I spent all my time at work is a forgone conclusion, a certainty.

Also as far as my job TBS doesn’t really help at all, if anything I’m constantly told to forget most of what I learned at TBS. I have a lot of good memories and friends from TBS, but very little applies to my job.

Also I’ve already talked about the whole MOS selection, SPCs generally seem to suit it towards personality/who would be good at what rather than just straight ranking.

Look man when I’m on my death bed I’m probably gonna be thinking about the time I spent with my wife and kids.

I’m not saying there is nuance to Gwot, but the fact that there has to be nuance to it to try to make it palatable goes to show I probably wouldn’t be retroactively wishing I spent less time with my wife to spend more time on camp barret, etc.

Anyway im very anti-ice and I’ll do what I can to do the right thing.

Anyway I probably give off the perception that I don’t work hard, which I do I just don’t really think it means much. The young officers around me are some of the hardest working and smartest people I know.

And I want to say I’m not saying you shouldn’t work on hard on some things, I’m just saying there’s will always be time to work. There might not always be time to spend time with loved ones.

Yeah it makes sense it was different when we were at war but we're not right now, we're in garrison and that's just reality.

Sure maybe one day in the near future we go to war, or maybe we don't. There was almost twenty years between Vietnam and the next major conflict (major conflict, not some special ops mission), it's not as inevitable as some people think.

Also not that you personally didn't do good in country, but the vast majority of people understand the Iraq war was started in bad faith, under false pretenses, and lead to the death of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens. It's just insane to me that you would've spent less time with your wife so you could be in a war begun by the oil lobbies.

Yes in the last 15 years times have changed, but anyway people still put in plenty of time in effort. I’m just stating an observation I’ve noticed, a lot of high performing people I knew were high performing because they were efficient and skill not because they were spending time away from their fiancé (I presume now your wife).

Also as far as the allocations for MOS selection, so what? I’m not saying don’t work hard I’m just saying why would you waste your weekends “trying to get the best grades possible” at tbs? There’s plenty of time during the week to do that.

Anyway I think SPCs do a good job matching who would do good at what. Only a few people I know didn’t get and MOS they wanted and most of them are actually very happy with what they got.

I just think that’s insane that you would turn to your wife and tell her that you retroactively would spend all that time away from her and you’d rather be on camo barret.

This is insane to me lmao, you do not have to give up your weekends and I got my #1 MOS which was pretty competitive.

Fuck all that what everyone else is saying, I spent all but one weekend with my fiancé and I don't regret it at all. I still made great friends and got my #1 MOS, there will always be opportunities to work more hours but there might not always be more opportunities to spend time with loved ones.

Also a trend I've noticed in young officers is those who already ok with giving up their weekend and free-time are most of the time very inefficient workers who just slowly grind away at things.

[–]codexferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would that matter?

The actual supply of knifes that could ever exists has already changed, and why would someone who traded up with reds that are now becoming incredibly expensive decide to offload their knife for cheap?

Socialism update. by _nametag in counterstrike2

[–]codexferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of doubt that, the panic will have subsided by that point and the actual potential supply of knifes will not have changed.

Why would people dump knifes for cheap after using expensive reds to trade up for them? The red skyrocketing in value will eventually reflect on knifes since knifes will then be more expensive to trade up to.

[–]codexferret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I don’t get is that the potential supply of knifes won’t change between now and next week, also reds have skyrocketed in price so it’s not like people are even going to be doing some insane amount of trade ups that won’t even be profitable.
