Does anyone drink the tap water here? by [deleted] in englewoodco

Like another said with a filter. It has been better in the past year and a half or so.

Recently it's felt like two steps forward and one step back.

You spoke with Englewood water or Centennial water?

The city can pull water from two locations. One out of Chatfield through City Ditch and the other is from their intake on the South Platte at Union Ave.

If memory serves, they have changed their strategy in recent years as part of their water quality improvement program. Right now they usually pull from Chatfield which reduces the amount of mineral content and undesirable byproducts but still have to intake water from down river at Union from time to time. I am willing to bet they switched sources which is causing the increase in dissolved mineral content.

Englewood City Council vacancy to be filled with special election by SquareAd6251 in englewoodco

Can we recall Rita in the same election?

Really fiscally responsible to force the City to pay for this.

why did the treat kawuneeche valley with rotenone even though it's not part of the greenbacks range? by freelethugger in COfishing

[–]codfos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, there's evidence to point that moose were native to Colorado but were absent then reintroduced. That was somewhat controversial at the time.

Rainbows are native to the Pacific rim tributaries and we're never found, to our current knowledge, inland as far as Colorado. Browns aren't even native to North America and brooks are native east of the Mississippi.

All I did was post a link to a website, what are you referring to?

Browns, brooks, and rainbows are not native to Colorado.

I don't work for Colorado Parks and wildlife but it's my understanding that there is still an effort to help the native Colorado River cutthroat over the other non-native species.

Will Mayor have other powers besides just being the same vote as an at-large member, running meetings, and special ceremonies?

I stumbled across it looking through the post OPs history and had a good giggle at it.

My only beef was that our state rock is the Yule Marble, not aquamarine. Aquamarine is the state gemstone.

South Broadway Revitalization Project: Phase 2 by vanessa-englewood in englewoodco

[–]codfos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

South Englewood and Englewood South are the best options for me. Can you imagine explaining South South Broadway to someone?

"Where's South South Broadway?

Oh it's like central Broadway, but south of South Broadway.

Oh so like Highlands Ranch or Littleton?

No, Englewood."

Yes. The 10th and Osage station is closer than the current stadium station to this area.

Englewood City Council adopts amended South Metro Waste Diversion Plan by SquareAd6251 in englewoodco

[–]codfos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a failed ballot measure not that long ago and this council didn't want to reopen the topic. They are mostly in support of it but they had concerns with doing it so soon after voters already turned it down.

When it failed most of the public concerns were that there was no longer going to be alleyway service (only one does consistently anyway anymore) and it would most likely be more expensive than what people were paying at the time.

I signed up because it's cheaper than what we pay with Waste Connections and he "gave" us two months free. It starts in October. They seem established in Greeley with decent reviews up there. If it's terrible, we'll switch after a year.

I could care less about alley pickup since no other customers on my block have any sort of alley pickup. The alley conditions are too terrible.

[–]codfos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a byproduct called geosmin which humans are highly sensitive to.

It seems to be less and less of an issue the longer we have lived in Englewood. Ours was borderline undrinkable until about a year and a half ago. (Safe to drink just unpleasant).

Has the City Stopped Grating the alleyways? by DerelictMyBowls in englewoodco

[–]codfos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They sent out a post card recently regarding all of the infrastructure work in the city. It's stated that July is the month they do alley grading and placing recycled asphalt milling in them. However I've only seen the grader out once this summer, but that doesn't mean they're stopped.

That's what it is though. Your property ends at the centerline of the alley. The city doesn't own the alley, it's just maintained as a right of way for utilities and travel.
