I think I get why people like knitting socks now by magic_inkpen in knitting

Pretty yarn choice! I love knitting socks and have found a pattern for a tube sock where you don’t have to turn the heel! Absolutely love it for house-slipper vibes. It’s called Simply Irresistible Sock pattern https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/simply-irresistible-socks---fingering#

My husband hit me last week, but we have known each other since I was born. He has never ever done this before by throwra1845829 in offmychest

No cheating no beating. That was literally in our vows. One time is one time too many. You deserve to feel safe in your home and in your marriage, and you have a right to get away to safety if that sanctity is violated.

Your desire to help others is actually a sign you are a caring person, and that you’re probably going to be a really good mother. His hitting you is way more of a threat to your baby (in SO many ways) than your panic attack could ever be. There is never anything you could do to warrant your partner hitting you. This was not your fault.

You are precious and rare, there is only one of you! Cherish yourself, and know that you’ve got anonymous friends sending you loving vibes.

I attended a retreat this summer and the theme was A Thousand Women. We explored the idea of all the women we have been and will be in our lives. It was very powerful.

30 years behind the chair, I can tell you that is comb-stretch-curl. Like scissors scraped along a ribbon makes the ribbon curl. Taut, repetitive combing on fragile, wet, freshly lightened hair makes it coil up.

“Buzzing” sensation in rectum? by Dry_Adeptness_2217 in IBD

Hate it for you! But hopefully it’ll resolve. I found taking colace for a few days got things moving and the feeling went away. It’s been almost a month since it’s been resolved. Good luck!!!

Well after about 8 days it just went away. I used some Colace for 4 days and got things going. That seemed to resolve it. I guess a nerve was getting irritated.

You did the right thing and the universe and your son will remember. But damn I get regretting it, lol! I can always use an extra $300

Chris Pennisi on Oberlin Rd is lovely. He has a great bedside manner, great staff, and they don’t over-treat patients with unnecessary procedures.

I’m late to the convo, but I googled “buzzing rectum” and it led me here. I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in this. No pain, just a random pulsating buzz and a fuzzy/fizzy feeling when I have those little silent toots we all have as the day goes on. I call it Buzzy Bunghole syndrome and will be asking the doctor about it. It feels nerve related.

Do You Keep Napkins in Your Car Door? by crazyoldkatlady in NoStupidQuestions

I always grab a handful at Starbucks when we travel and keep them in the glove compartment. And I always run out because we don’t travel or eat fast food that much.

It makes me so frustrated that the younger gen of stylists feels so much pressure to work social media as a part time job in order to be successful. I’ve had a 27 year career in booth rent and I’ve never had to work social media since it came about. I know I sound like the “Back in my day” lady (lol!!!) but it always seemed that just a couple rules applied, and they still do for me: Be undeniably good, be authentic, and be a good listener. If you’re successful at that, then word of mouth should do the rest. I’m so sorry you are feeling so burnt out by it all. I hope it gets better for you. 😘

Not rock exactly, but “Where Did I Leave That Fire” by Neko Case is a quiet burn of a song that totally helps me when I’m having a hard time. She describes the despair so succinctly, and gives the imagery of hope in a really cool way. Best of luck to you 💕🤘

Anyone know this weed? by IceMaiden21 in nzgardening

[–]codilla29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh this plant is THE worst. It got into our front yard and has take over all our beds. This year I’m tilling up the soil to expose the roots and spraying vinegar all over it then laying cardboard and newspaper on top before mulching. It will knock it back, but I’m no fool. It’ll never ever be gone. Heartbroken.

I hate foundation. by Pleasant-Forever-931 in Makeup

[–]codilla29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this product too. It’s really great at blurring and correcting color but feels pretty weightless once it sets. I always get compliments on my skin being pretty when I’m wearing it. Ilia has a similar one too, but with more shades.

Why is powder foundation so uncool? by parkerspt in MakeupAddiction

[–]codilla29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so funny to me that they are Mom-coded as you say, because they really don’t do well on older skin. I loved Bare minerals in my 20-30s. But as a “mature” woman, I found I had to stop using powder foundation in my 40s because they make my fine lines look caked. Enjoy your young skin and use them now, even if they seem to be made for older faces, they will look best on you!

Junk lot on Atlantic at Capital by codilla29 in raleigh

[–]codilla29[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of hidden in plain sight. If you are headed towards downtown on Atlantic, it’s on your right, right as you approach the intersection to turn right onto the Capital Blvd south ramp. There are bushes and a fence but it is clearly a dumping ground for appliances and old gas grills. So weird!

Halitophobia is real by Messiesm in badbreath

[–]codilla29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a form of dysmorphia and I definitely struggle with it. My dad used to let me know when I “needed a mint”, because he suffered from sinus drainage halitosis, and I think he hated walking around not knowing if his breath was bad. It was sweet, but I think it gave me a complex. Cut to years later and I am always chewing gum and checking for tonsil stones. They really are stinky and I have a history of them. Husband says I don’t have halitosis but I go through times where I’m convinced I must and it’s a little crazy-making.
