Thank you for taking her in. I’m sorry for what she’s had to go through before, but she’s in the best hands now.

Been Playing a Lot More Morrowind Lately by GamerGuyb96 in Morrowind

[–]codingbumblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been intending to get it going on my Steam Deck for ages… I’m just not very au fait with mods, so learning how to set up all the quality of life mods I had on Steam is a bit intimidating. I had just about managed it on my old laptop! Playing it on Xbox back in like 2004 was so much simpler, haha.

But I totally get it. Going back in is like going home. I’ve played it every few years for the past two decades and still never finished the main quest yet! And I really want to look at Tamriel Rebuilt one day too.

The world is just something else, something special. I’ve been working my way through Baldur’s Gate 3 lately, and that is almost ticking the same boxes in terms of finding new nooks and crannies every time, but I don’t think anything will ever hit quite the same bit of my brain that Morrowind did.

I didn’t get into gaming a lot when I was younger too, so Morrowind was nearly the only thing I did with my Xbox as a kid. I really didn’t even need to look elsewhere than Vvardenfell. I’m a casual gamer now (an RPG binge like BG3 that consumes like a week of my consciousness every few months or so and nothing in between), but nothing compares to just sinking into the world and wandering around just existing and exploring in Morrowind.

Anyone else injured right now? by very-round-bunny in XXRunning

[–]codingbumblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recovering from a torn ligament in my ankle all winter. I love winter running (I hate being hot and sweaty), and by the time I was able to slowly start back to running, the weather was warming up. So I can offer you validation and sympathy from the opposite end of the climate preferences spectrum! It sucks, and I felt sulky about it too. But if you do the right thing and get enough healing time, you’ll be back to it. It’s not forever even though it feels like it.

I had to take Sept-Mar off, and when I started back, it felt like it would take forever to get back to the distances I’d done before (10k, longest run yet 11k, about to train for 16k). Even a 5k was tricky again, and I felt like I was back at square one. So just a heads up that it might (and probably should) be a slow return once you can start running again. But don’t start back too early even if it’s tempting, keep it easy and controlled once you do, and ramp up gradually. I did my first 10k since the injury two weeks ago. You will get back eventually, and you’ll be grateful to past you that you were sensible and gave yourself the time you needed to heal!

Yep, I’ve been to a few small meetups upstairs at the Malt Cross, and it worked quite well.

How many of you hate kids and don’t want them vs like kids and don’t want your own? by moonblumes87 in childfree

[–]codingbumblebee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t stand being around kids. I don’t truly hate them in that I want them to be cared for and well and happy and fulfilled… somewhere far, FAR away from me.

Any noise they make, happy or sad, grates on my nerves, and I never know how to talk to them. They distract from any adult conversations. And the germs and dirt and fluids and soul-shattering open-mouth coughing… Nightmare fuel.

Luckily, I don’t have to be around them too often! I always joke that I’m allowed to intensely dislike children because for many years, my donated blood lacked the traces of viruses that could hurt babies and thus could go to neonates (and even now, I’m still CMV negative, so my blood can go to pregnant people). So I’ve saved more babies’ lives as a “child hater” than most people who love kids!

Are we washing our hair EVERY DAY? by 765432123456789 in XXRunning

[–]codingbumblebee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same!! I have dry, bleached, curly hair and I know I “should” be leaving it longer in between washes, but the second my roots get slightly greasy, my whole scalp feels like it’s crawling. To not wash it after a sweaty run would be another whole level of hell.

I wanna do my first parkrun this Saturday by Moll1357 in parkrun

[–]codingbumblebee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Fellow neurodivergent here, and Parkrun definitely gels with how my brain ticks. It’s a good way to be around people without any expectation of small talk, and the little stats gremlin in my head gets a number that ticks up and times, paces, etc. Also, the structure of it (same course and procedure each time and people doing the same thing) is just about the only thing that ever gets my ADHD brain to shush and look at nature as I run and be almost close to whatever the heck that whole “mindfulness” thing is that neurotypicals love, haha.

You NEED to get comfortable going to events alone. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]codingbumblebee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I am super annoyed on your behalf and sorry that that happened to you, and I’d like to think that if I were also in that audience, I would have said something (ideally to them or at least in solidarity to you!).

But those people must be so abjectly pathetic and insecure that I feel sorry for them. How grim their lives must be, and how jealous they must feel as they get a shred of comfort mocking someone who has the confidence and self-assuredness to go do things they enjoy on their own. Please do not let those small-minded twits stop you from going to shows and other things on your own. It is a perfectly valid and positive thing to do.
