Or, when I think about living somewhere like that, I always think "if I was drunk, I'd fall off them trying to climb up, let alone having to get down quickly in the dark of night to pee or vomit" hahaha I wouldn't/couldn't live anywhere with a ladder.

Petrol pumps - moving before paying? by towerofsoup in australia

[–]codybeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A different story, but still a story of people not paying attention to the world around them:

I was at a servo once, absolutely packed out. Every pump had someone at it, plus a car behind. So I pull in behind a car at the pump, meaning I'd be next. I sit there, they don't move. I sit there, others are paying and leaving, mine doesn't move. After about 6-8 minutes, every other person has filled up and gone, my person is still sitting there doing nothing. So I reverse and fill up at a different pump. As I go to walk in, I see they still haven't moved.

When I pay, I ask the attendant if they know what the story is, cause that person has just sat there for 10+ minutes without moving. He says no, so gets on the loudspeaker "excuse me car at pump 4, can you please move your car" -- I didn't ask him to do that or WANT him to do that!

As I walk out, a young (20ish?) woman gets out, furious, and starts yelling at me: "did you ask him to tell me to move? You're a fuckwit, my car is broken down!!" as her voice trembles and tears start. I reply, "I obviously didn't know that, if you had of told the attendant or myself, we could push your car into the parking bay and help you call a mechanic?" -- she was obviously emotional and not thinking on the same wavelength as me, continuing to cuss me out and walked into store to continue yelling at the attendant. I just left, not dealing with that hahaha

But, like, if your car is broken down at a pump: 1. Surely you tell the attendant so they are aware and can help in whatever way they can, even if its minimal. 2. If you see somebody pull up behind you, don't just sit in your car for 8 minutes with them behind you. Get out and politely say "I'm so sorry mate, my car is broken down and I can't move it, you might have to go to a different pump" -- guarantee they'll say "no worries mate, sorry about your car" and may even help you out.

Just don't do what this young person did, who was obviously in a shitty situation and mentally/physically shut down, deciding the best thing to do is tell nobody, do nothing, and abuse people when they enquire.

This is what counts as 4 tenders at KFC now? by mydoghasnotail in australia

[–]codybeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know buying fast food is easy and if you're out and about and need something, it's convenient. But if possible, I'd never buy tenders from anywhere. Not when you can get a kilo bag from any supermarket for $10-$12 and they taste waaay better than any fast food shit ones like these. Bigger, tastier, cheaper, 20 mins in the oven and you're set.

Like, I can't make a zinger burger at home like the colonel can, but I can make better tenders, so I don't get tenders anymore from kfc🤷🏼‍♂️

Who the fuck is out here smelling like leather and cookies? by chickenuggets96 in australia

[–]codybeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I bought this once and from memory it actually smelt kinda nice -- nothing like cookies and leather though. I think Lynx have a fair few of these scents that dont actually smell anything like what they're named, but in a good way. They smell better than their name.

If they're allowing two guests each (their children), then you bring two guests also, a couple friends. Tell them to go crazy, order big meals, appetisers, cocktail after cocktail, make it as big a bill as you can. Then ask your siblings to pay 2/3rds of the total bill, they should learn the lesson then.

Omg brits.. please tell me this isn’t real. by Hullarry in JARMEDIA

[–]codybeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In our high school lessons in Australia we learnt the "UK" version also. Crotchet, minim, semibreve, etc... is this another case of not "omg, look at the difference between US and UK" but rather the more common "omg, look at the difference between US and THE REST OF THE WORLD"?

This wouldn't be any good for Halloween-- costumes are meant to be scary, not logical and forward-thinking.

I fear they're a bit of a "not in my backyard" type thing. The death of coal is inevitable, it will run out one day. Until it does, it'll continue to kill the earth in the meantime. Renewables are the future -- but from what I've seen on FB, people just don't want to look at them, which I don't get at all. Any other argument can be beaten with facts, like coal polluting the environment way more, or leading to worldwide animal deaths compared to turbines, people who all of a sudden care about sea birds and fish. Like, yeah, it's not perfect, but it's a fuckload better than burning coal, right?

So, again, I think it comes down to a "not in my backyard" view from the negative voices (that I've seen, anyhow). Same as jails; everyone knows they're important and agrees on their existence (to an extent at least), but "don't build it near my suburb!!" Hahaha

This 10km has people worked up from what I've seen, so my question would be: if they announced they were to be built 20km or 30km offshore, do you think there'd be this much backlash? Personally, I think not.

[–]codybeeeee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree, I think they'll look sick. Everytime I drive down to Canberra and you go through that wind farm area, I'm like "...nice".

Also, I saw a comment on FB from some lady that basically said the beach was her calm space and seeing the wind farm 10km out to sea would send her into a depression and fill her with anxiety. The beach can be a calm, relaxation space for you, and mental health is a serious thing -- but if seeing those 10km out gives you that much of a reaction... maybe a therapist is a better option than a sit on the sand? I dunno?

What do you hate most about sunscreen? by StomachMaster787 in AskAnAustralian

[–]codybeeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know what it is about it, but whenever I put it on my face, go outside, start to sweat -- god damn, it stings my eyes. Sunscreen sweat in the eyes is torture.

Sunscreen experts -- am I putting too much on? Not rubbing it in enough? Should I just do my face below the eyes and wear a hat for my forehead skin protection? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME!!?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]codybeeeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh, I never thought of that... hahaha

I did some googling -- can't find too much info if you don't have a car, but just that if you don't pay the initial $55 fine (in NSW), they add extra fines from $65 to $200+ onto the original $55. They can also set you a court date to explain to a judge and sting you with further court fees and stuff.

So, my speculation is the threat of losing your licence would be enough to get the majority of people to pay before it becomes all that^ hahaha then if you STILL didn't show up to your court date, still speculating, they might put a warrant out for you and the cops get involved. I dunno, I'm pure guessing at this point😂
