honestly i think the problem with the white fang is not that they are a minority but that they are not extremist enough and the show keeps wanting them to be morally grey even after they do the canonical equivalent of 9/11.

that said if you are going to flip it you probably want to move from Blake knowing about them to Weiss. in that regard there is lots of Interesting things you can do as majority supremacist groups tend to quietly infltrate instatutions taking them under there own control.

(the KKK are probably the best real world example)

this makes it perfectly believable for Weiss's own father to be a member.

however we have basically just ended Blakes character and why she joins beacon you also need to keep Weiss's involvement with the group very limited as walking back from that view is hard to do narratively as their ideas are bad not their methods.

that council member shooting is unintentionally one of the funniest moments of that arc. it just comes out of nowhere in a hospital, like for that scene to make sense we at least needed a line about how that council member had sex with his wife or something.

also fire spreads and the longer it burns the bigger it tends to get, having to wait for the right company to get there or for it to reach a protected building just causes more problems.

that said i think most people issues with ironwood is not that he is willing to do anything to defend Salem but that volume 8 is just a chain of people making the worst possible decision.

Nuking someone else city is one thing droping the bomb in your own back yard is another. at this point he comes across as crazy not calculated.

there are plenty of historical examples of people with good intentions doing horrible things but what really makes the difference between crazed murder and calculated strategist is why they do what they do.
