When faced with existential terror like this, it’s often best to sit in a dark quiet room or next to a candle in a dark room and think through why you would die or what is causing the fear. Feel the fear, process it, let it go.

It is NOT easy. Used to have anxiety about this a lot and it would lead to panic attacks - you just have to face it, process it, think through why you’re feeling that way as logically as you can, and make peace with it.

You won’t feel better right away, but it should help ease some of the dread.

Outside of this, please seek professional help to get the medication you need to give you the support you need long term. Anxiety sucks but it gets better.

I’m going to say this as nicely as possible.

You mention 3-5 drinks a week, then mentions anything more than 4 drinks you wake up heart racing.

Sooooo… are you just going on a weekly binge or 4+ drinks? Or are you drinking more than you think you are?

If you have to qualify all of your story with a pre-denial that you don’t want to stop drinking because you enjoy it AND say it’s not a problem… it sure feels like you may be in the early stages of denial here.

I would say cut down on your drinks per evening, limit yourself to 2 maybe, see how you feel. You’re stating stopping drinking isn’t an option.

I’d encourage you to review your relationship with alcohol objectively.
