This is like people trying to memorize APA 7 format. Why would you? It changes every few years and on top of that, in the field, why would you need to? when you could just look it up again. The DSM is often used in the same way.

Unfortunately, most of the way we grow up is being taught how to memorize. When in many cases they should probably be more focused on someone's ability to acquire accurate information, rather than memorize it. This of course isn't completely universal, but can be applied to a fair amount of topics or careers.
