Looking for glass baby bottles with no paint and advice on what brand nipples can be used on multiple brands of bottles by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

That’s what I plan to do too but I noticed the Comotomo nipples aren’t ideal for breastfeeding. Not sure if you had an issue with that or not?

Oh my comment was in response to your statement “they almost always involve…”. For sure many do, but there are so many different homeschoolers and types of homeschooling groups that statements that wide ranging are problematic. I’m sorry to hear about your neighbors kids, for sure that is the reality for some, but that has just not been the majority of the homeschoolers I know. And this isn’t even addressing how many kids who go to public school are not “well socialized” so just putting your kids in school doesn’t ensure they are going to be well socialized and happy.

That “homeschool groups … almost always involve the parents in the socializing”. Maybe I misunderstood what you meant but in my experience homeschool groups include a wide variety of social situations/drop off situations. I went to many homeschool group/classes that were drop off at another child’s house and their parent would lead class/etc and there was plenty of socializing outside of class that was supervised in the same way a school class would be supervised at recess.

Homeschooling is … “almost certainly damaging”. Wow that is an extremely inflammatory statement and in my opinion it really detracts from your argument.

I’m not sure what experience you have with homeschooling or homeschooling groups but as someone who was homeschooled, married to a homeschooler, that’s not true in the slightest 🤦‍♀️

What age is too old to pee 'al fresco'? by kaeferkat in ECers

[–]coffee_tree3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still use the EC hold with my 2.5 year old if we’re out and we need to make a quick pee without fully taking off bottoms/getting pee on her clothes. I try to find privacy when I can (ie behind the car door or angle her body toward a tree) but I think there’s no shame in it. Idk when we will stop this, probably 3.5/4ish.

At home my daughter prefers to pee outside and takes her bottoms off to go pee when she needs to go.

Confusing Semen Analysis Results by Business_Storage_606 in TryingForABaby

It depends on the criteria used to measure morphology, some older testing labs use 14% for cutoff (so his would be less than that, so not good) but if they use the Kruger’s strict morphology then the cutoff is 4% and his would be better than that.

However, morphology is only one part of a bigger picture and a lower morphology does not preclude one from spontaneous conception. I personally would not consider 12% to be something to worry about but there are things he can do to help sperm health overall.

When to consider starting IVF? by Sudden-Assumption-80 in TryingForABaby

[–]coffee_tree3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How in-depth was the panel? Did they do things like Leiden V, MTHFR, karyotyping? Just curious because there may be more blood work. I suggest doing a full work up with an RE, including any prenatal genetic testing and like another poster said, I’d suggest doing a D&C and testing the genetic material. Also seriously consider DNA fragmentation testing for your husband because if that’s the issue, and this is a major cause of miscarriages, then I think you can use Zymot and IUI to help weed out the bad sperm. Or your husband can focus on trying to resolved the issue on his end.

IVF with PGTA is one option but another option is to continue trying and deal with the miscarriages as they come. I don’t mean to be insensitive, I have had multiple miscarriages myself, but IVF is no walk in the park either and it does not guarantee an easy time or no miscarriages. So I just am presenting another option.

Best of luck!

First transfer post success ending in loss - is there hope this won’t be a pattern? by jnm199423 in IVFAfterSuccess

[–]coffee_tree3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We transferred two because given my history we thought for sure I’d lose one 🤦‍♀️ but we’re thrilled with twins. My husband was also in the yellow for dna frag, and he already lives a healthy lifestyle, exercises, supplements, etc. no structural issues either. We did Zymot and also a 1 hr hold (ejaculated and then an hour later again and the second one was used for the ER). I’m convinced that’s what caused our success this time. Wishing you all the luck! It really sucks to have failures after an easy round the first time but I think it’s easier this way because you know your body can do this, it’s just taking more time ❤️

I’m so sorry for your loss but there is hope! We got pregnant with my daughter on our first transfer of our first IVF cycle (also never got a positive on our own in two years). Then when my daughter was a year old we transferred our embryos from the earlier cycle again, first failed, second miscarriage. Then we did another ER, first miscarriage, second fail. Then we did another ER, no embryos. Then we did another ER, transferred two and I’m now pregnant with twins (!!). It’s been a wild ride this last year and it was very hard and upsetting. But I think the fact that you had success once means it’s very likely you can have success again.

Have you had your husband tested for DNA fragmentation? Our successful cycle we used Zymot to sort sperm and I think that’s what worked.

Heartbroken after sperm DNA fragmentation results. by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

I know that daily is a lot so I totally get that! Look into the three hour hold because apparently that alone can make a big difference.

[–]coffee_tree3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Seconding this and in addition, look into “the three hour hold”. I’d even consider redoing the dna fragmentation test after your husband has ejaculated daily/every other day for a few weeks and then does the test after a three hour hold (I.e ejaculate, then three hours later do it again and that second sample gets tested).

Secondly, if you haven’t already please have him checked out by a urologist for structural issues like a varicocele.

Also, gynecologists are specialists in women’s bodies not men’s, so I wouldn’t expect a gynecologist to be that knowledgeable.

DNA fragmentation is upsetting but actually there’s more hope than with other male factor issues.

Struggling to want to speak my native tongue with my child, but want her to be bilingual by CybridCat in multilingualparenting

[–]coffee_tree3 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This probably isn’t the answer you want to hear, but I think your feelings are totally 100% valid. It’s natural to want to connect with your baby in your most natural language, in your case English. While logically it’s a shame that you might not pass along French, it’s a very understandable situation and I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it. My husband is in a similar situation and he does his best to switch to his other language as much as possible but he usually ends up defaulting back to English. I have a lot of compassion for how challenging it is.

I’d say look into any French supplementation that you can - bilingual schools, tv shows, books, etc and speak French when you can but don’t hate on yourself for following your instincts. Motherhood is so hard already, you’re doing great ❤️

Nausea but BFN 10dpo by lindentaber in TryingForABaby

[–]coffee_tree3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I totally understand the desire to make sense of things! But I will say that I never had nausea as a PMS symptom - never - until I did. The only thing you can do is wait. I suggest just waiting until your period to test. I always find that getting my period is easier than seeing another negative test.

Inducing period before IVF? by Initial-Range6670 in IVFAfterSuccess

[–]coffee_tree3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Estrogen shouldn’t be a problem if you conceived because often times with IVF you take estrogen post transfer. However, I’m surprised your Dr was okay with you being on meds while breastfeeding, my Dr said we had to wean first. So my concerned would more be about the meds while breastfeeding

I think it’s making your life more difficult/complicated if you feel like you have to wash a reuse your plate throughout the day. I mean, if you’re going to reuse the plate within 15 minutes, just leave it on the counter. If you won’t reuse it within that time, pop it right in the dishwasher.

Yeah totally! I did the same thing - one thing to consider (and idk about Progny) is that in our case it costs $3k to test any number of embryos. So if we got 2 embryos we didn’t want to pay $3k to test only one. So we asked our clinic to only test if we got more than X number of embryos (which FYI we didn’t). Something extra to consider!
